Welcoming place with beautiful lake views.

    rating29 Jun 2026

Walked into an inviting reception with relaxing background music and a roaring fireplace. It felt like an alpine ski chalet. The manager was so warm and engaging. The deluxe balcony room felt like home and the waterfront views of the lake as well as the large outdoor deck and gumtrees were wonderful and peaceful. The restaurants on the premises seem to be popular and busy. Overall lovely people and property.

    Ideal for fishing

One of our favourite places we stayed at. This is a very old building which the new owners are working at updating. We had a lovely large room in the main house without self catering facilities. It had a view of the lake and kangaroos visited us in the early evening. They do also do self catering facilities which they showed us - there is an extra charge - but these were in need of updating and we much preferred the room in the main house. You can fish off their jetty and it is very good.Ate out at the RSL club in Merimbula - very reasonable and good food - only 5 mins drive away. There is a restaurant on site but it did not cater for plain food which we prefer.

Great setting but could do with an upgrade

    rating15 Feb 2026

The guesthouse- a collection of cottages- are set in fantastic landscape, surrounded by forest and on the lake. We had a very large room with an equally large balcony. Yet, the atmosphere felt all a little cold - there were no breakfast services, rooms were not cleaned yet we were able to do some laundry there. So it’s more self-contained cottages than hotel. The whole place screams for an upgrade- looks like rooms haven’t changed since the 1980s. That was not clear to us when we booked. For anything to do or to eat you need to get to the town Merimbula.

    Choose something else

As we speak we are sitting on the terrace of Robyns. We just have checked in to a very very outdated standard room. The staff has a "I dont give a toss" attitude. We are here in Monday and the restaurant is closed. Sitting on the terrace we asked where we could order a drink, the response was, the restaurant is not open and you have to go into town for a drink. We did not take no for an answer and finally we could buy a few beers, but had to pay cash. The woman who went with us to get the beers was not at all hospitable. When we said something about it she did not give a toss. The rooms aswell the reception area have not been renovated or updated for at least 40 years. But they still ask a lot of money for there rooms. Please do yourself a favour and find somewhere else to stay

    Disappointing

    rating18 Nov 2025

We booked a deluxe king room but we were sadly disappointed as our room was pretty tatty. We enjoyed a beautiful view across the lake on our very big terrace but the outside furniture was very tatty and needed replacing. The actual room was very tired and dated, a rip in the carpet and old furniture. If you are advertising a room as deluxe you need to deliver that promise but this room didn’t. We would not stay here again unless the standard was improved. Small things make a difference such as a couple of comfy chairs in the room to relax in rather than one very old leather chair, a bedside clock that actually works and a bedside lamp which was really dirty. Attention to detail is woeful which is a shame when the location is so beautiful.
