Great homely feel apartments in a residential area.

    rating22 Apr 2026

Lovely place to stay in a kind of residential area. A very homely feel to the place, like a B&B. Great size room on the first floor. Had to carry luggage up stairs. Great bath and separate shower. Good cutlery / crockery aiding in room dining. Lovely breakfast, good quality food. Walking distance to a local brewery / pub for food but all other restaurants are a drive away. Laundry facilities are domestic and shared with everyone but are available FOC with detergents etc.

    Ripped off, book elsewhere.

This establishment requires a comprehensive renovation. Our garden view room presented an outdated aesthetic, reminiscent of a vintage second-hand store, with furnishings and decor that were frankly unacceptable. The discrepancy between the advertised ratings and our experience suggests a potential misrepresentation, particularly given its classification as a 5-star, 9 out of 10, and "SUPERB" accommodation on bookings.com.Having previously experienced various accommodations across Perth, Busselton, Margaret River, and Denmark, we anticipated a superior experience in Albany, especially considering the premium pricing and the promise of a complimentary cooked breakfast and "boutique" lodging. Regrettably, this has proven to be the most expensive and least satisfactory accommodation we have encountered in Western Australia. Furthermore, the advertised cooked breakfast was substituted with a continental offering due to staffing constraints, leaving us with limited options beyond Greek yogurt and a banana, as other selections were predominantly carbohydrate-based. No microwave or cooking facilities in the room, yet there's a huge black fridge placed in the corner like a piece of artwork. Why, have it? The kitchenette bench top was undersized and was difficult to make a cuppa. The plates provided were too big to fit in the sink to wash. Nothing made any sense. 3 huge mirrors on the wall where you can watch yourself eat while sitting on the grecian outdoor furniture setting which was very uncomfortable. Also mirrors upstairs overlooking the bed, so that was a bit off-putting as well. The location is wonderful as its a quick walk to the beach. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Very disappointed with our stay and a very memorable one for all the wrong reasons...especially for our bank account. Duty Manager, General Manager at Beach House At Bayside, responded to this review Dear Mrs. Pietso,We're sorry to read that the décor of The Beach House was not to your taste but are glad that you found the bed comfortable and the shower to your liking. We offer a cooked breakfast when a chef is available and that was the case this morning, so you were able to have something cooked for you and your partner. Our Continental breakfasts offer a wide range of foods, including buttered cinnamon pears, berry compote, two different yoghurts and various fruits, as well as carbohydrate-based cereals and breads. If you had informed any of the staff of your preference for certain types of food we would have done our best to accommodate your wishes.A guest microwave is available in the dining room for guests to use at any time.Thank you for bringing the size of the dinner plates to our attention, we will certainly look into substitutes for that room that will fit the sink.Kind Regards,The Beach House Team

Very disappointing. Nothing like the photos on Booking.com

    rating11 Mar 2026

We were very disappointed when we arrived as the accommodation was nothing like the pictures on the booking.com website. Instead of fresh neutral coloured rooms we got brown, fusty, worn and old fashioned. It was like a 2 star B&B. The shower head was so dirty and scaled up that it did not work fully, the furniture in the room was worn and tatty and all of the window fly screens very dirty. The top of the wardrobe shelf was full of dust. The white fluffy dressing gowns shown in the promo photos were grey fleece old things and we were told on arrival that there was no cooked breakfast as other guests had mentioned in their reviews, due to staff shortage. There was also a planned electricity outage on our first morning at 8.45 am but the hotel did not inform us, so we had to go out for the day without breakfast or showering. The safe in the room was broken with a note on it, so we had to lock all of our valuables in a case in our room. We had to run the hot water tap for 4 minutes before any hot water came through. No one on reception except between 2-4 pm when most people are out for the day. Would not recommend for the price per night that they are charging. Duty Manager, General Manager at Beach House At Bayside, responded to this review Dear Mrs. Bradley,We're sorry to read that your found your recent stay with us disappointing. Thank you for alerting us to the fly screens being in need of thorough cleaning (it has been attended to).If you had let us know of any of your concerns during your stay we would have attended to those within our control as soon as we were aware of any issues. As it was, nothing was said to any of the staff while you were with us and, so, we could not assist when it would have made a difference. The shower head in your room was replaced two months ago due to Albany having very hard water. The shower heads are thoroughly cleaned before the arrival of any of our guests but we were not aware that the build up was to the level of not working properly. Housekeeping staff attested that the flow was fine during the cleaning process. The top of the wardrobe shelf is cleaned consistently as our housekeeping staff are diligent and take pride in presenting a clean, welcoming room for our guests. Our complimentary bathrobes, provided for the comfort of our guests, are grey in colour. Ranging from light, silvery-grey to dark, smoke-grey, by design. We have never had white, fluffy bathrobes. We serve a delicious, varied Continental breakfast every morning, and a cooked breakfast when a chef is available, all at no extra charge to our guests. At present we only have one chef but are in the process of training more staff members to fill in when our chef cannot do a shift. The planned power outage was as much of a surprise to the staff as it was to our guests as we were not informed of it happening beforehand. The staff did the best they could in a situation that was outside of their control. We have safes, in a secure room, at the reception area and let our guests know that we will happily store any valuables they wish locked away.A staff member is on site from 7am and is always available to answer any questions or assist our guests in any was possible. The duty manager is often assisting with breakfast service but is also available to deal with any guest concerns.Reception is manned from 10am most days, after the duty manager has finished helping with breakfast service, until well into the afternoon.Thank you for your feedback and all the best with future travels.Regards,The Beach House team.

Mighty impressed and pleasing Hotel stay

    rating18 Oct 2025

I never do this - leave reviews, except restaurants. This property, its brilliant staff, location quietness, condition and inclusions screamed at me to leave this review.I’ve stayed at some differing types of accommodation around the world in my time but never have I come across a stay like this one! From 5 star Hotels to lo-cal humble onsite Dongas in remote areas. I thought I’d seen them all. I’m a fa-natic for cleanliness and The Beach house Bayside in Albany Western Australia gets a 10/10 from my scorebook. But, not only for its cleanliness. My room was well appointed and surprisingly comfortable lounge chairs added to the charm, along with the King bed, Spa, heated towel rack, ambient and controllable light-ing big TV and quiet aircon, not forgetting the bath robes and supplied slippers. Wooden cedar window shutters inside is a very nice touch too. Outer corridors security locked were light and airey with interesting art on the walls leading to an immaculate courtyard where it would be easy to work or read listening to the beautiful bubbling water feature seated on comfortable outdoor patio fur-niture. Easy access to clean adequate garden featured car park from this area too.Breakfast was included in my room pricing and I’m so glad it was too! I’m a re-tired Chef with many, many years of experience in the hospitality industry and I COULD NOT FAULT the dining room or continental breakfast layout and choice. There is so much more I could review for this property but I’ll leave that for you if ever you have the need to pamper or spoil yourself. This discovery will meet all expectations and then exceed them like it did for me I’m sure. This is a genuine review and I’m happy to answer any questions from readers who wish to contact me through this site. Stay safe and best regards! RM. Duty Manager, General Manager at Beach House At Bayside, responded to this review Dear Rod,Thank you for your lovely, lovely review :)I hope you managed to track down the L'Or coffee pods that you liked so much. All the best for 2026,Christina (duty manager) and staff

    Big disappointment!

    rating05 Oct 2025

The location of this B&B is very quiet and very handy for a walk along the Middleton Beach footpath to Emu Point. Unfortunately, the overall condition of the Rooms is not up to the standard of 5 star accommodation, which is how it is described on the Website. There are lots of little failings which gives the appearance of very little maintenance or lack of money. e.g. broken venetians, bad lighting in the bathroom and inferior toiletries. There is a cooked breakfast available, but the presentation had little imagination. This business has been operating now for some years, but it badly needs renovating and modernising to make it stand out amongst its category. Duty Manager, General Manager at Beach House At Bayside, responded to this review Dear Black Swan,I'm sorry to read that you found your latest stay with us to be a big disappointment. When you arrived I did apologise for the two broken slats on the venetian blinds, assured you that it would not affect your privacy in any way and confirmed that we are in the process of replacing the blinds with Plantation shutters. Never once was the lighting in the bathroom brought to the attention of any of the staff. We've never had any other complaints about this so I am at a loss as to know exactly what was bad about the lighting in that area. Our toiletries are purchased from a reputable, well-known brand and this is the first time they've ever been labelled inferior. Suggestions as to what you would consider superior alternatives would be most welcome :)Our chef does a fresh, cooked-to-order breakfast for any guest who wants such, chosen from our menu. Most of our guests list the cooked breakfast as one of their favourite aspects of their Beach House stay. He is also very accommodating to our guests; to the point where he started his shift much earlier one morning in order to allow the gentlemen of your party, at their specific request, to enjoy a cooked breakfast and still be on time for their early golf game appointment. Our chef, Daniel, is excellent at his job but he's never pondered what he could do to present the breakfast more imaginatively. Again, if you have any suggestions, as to how this could be accomplished, they would be welcomed. As to the overall presentation of The Beach House - we are currently in the process of renovating and rejuvenating the business while, at the same time, ensuring we do not lose the cosy, relaxed, welcoming ambience we strive to provide for all of our lovely guests. It's a delicate balance but we do take on board your comments and will do our best to get it right.Thank you for taking the time to write this review.Kind Regards,Christina (duty manager)
