We loved this hotel 20years ago unfortunately it hasn't moved on and doesn't seem worried that they are neglecting their Hotel guests. We loved the pub and the staff there were very helpful when we were struggling with lack of room service

    Clean, comfortable and convenient.

Great location on the quiet side of theThe Rocks in Millers Point. The Metro is close by, buses out the door and an easy walk to circular quay for ferries and trains. Several pubs in close proximity for a quiet ale and bite to eat. The room was a good size and clean. The only issue can be the stairs if you have mobility problems, but staff glad to offer assistance with luggage. I recommend getting on one of the e-bikes which can be found everywhere and riding around the area. This negates the inclines of the area and was very convenient to get to attractions further afield like the Fish Market.

    Don’t bother

What a disappointment. I’ve been coming here since the early 1990’s. I’m convinced the beer recipes have changed over the years. Ordered a ploughmans platter this evening which used to be absolutely fantastic. What a disgrace. Nothing like the original. The menu appears to have variety but I couldn’t be bothered trying anything else. Won’t be back.

Unique and Enjoyable Brewery Hotel in Sydney

    rating24 Aug 2025

This is a really excellent boutique hotel. The room was really nice as was the service from the excellent staff, especially including Harry and Laura, our housekeeper.Location in The Rocks is very convenient. Only a short walk to the Bangaroo train station which takes you to Centrql station from where you can get almost anywhere. The room, itself, had two nice windows which overlook the street. We were provided with a teapot and full tea and coffee service which was refilled every day. Several times, we took advantage of the ground floor pub which had a nice selection of pub food dishes including meat pies. They only sell their own beer which is on tap. But no worries there. Their beer is delicious. I most enjoyed their dark porter, but they have numerous choices including two different bitters, ales, and others. For those who want whiskey, their bar was fully stocked including numerous single malt scotches. While there, it was pouring rain almost every day. So, we did a lot at indoor spots and had to forego planned outdoor stuff like a whale watching trip which was cancelled by the boat due to rough seas. We’d also planned a walk over the harbor bridge, but skipped it….too wet. Lord Nelson’s convenient location to train allowed us to visit the spectacular Queen Victoria Building and also Chinatown. In addition to the pub, there is a restaurant on the second floor, but we never visited it.I was told this is one of Sydney’s oldest hotels…possibly the oldest. As such, it’s on the historical register. They’ve done a phenomenal job keeping it in shape.I highly recommend this hotel. My only caveat is that rooms are on the third and fourth floors. Being on the historical register, they are unable to install elevators. But no worries about hauling your luggage up the stairs. Their staff takes care of that for you. We arrived in early morning. Rooms were being cleaned up, so Harry put our luggage in their office. He later carried it up the stairs to our room for us. Numerous staff members checked in with us making sure all was good.If you want a hotel with elevators, Sydney has no shortage of them. But if you want to go someplace special with a great pub, staff, long history, and location, you owe it to yourself to stay at the Lord Nelson Brewery Pub while in Sydney.

A perfect place to stay for lovers of historic buildings

    rating08 Jun 2025

We loved it from the start. The staff were so lovely and greeted us with huge smiles. Our room was a pub room, with full private bathroom. It's was extremely clean, comfortable, safe, quiet, warm. Please don't bother booking here if you are expecting a very large 5 star motel with an elevator. You will have to walk up stairs. There is no elevator! But if you love old buildings and history (183 years of beauty), then I highly recommend this place 👌perfectly suited if you are planning to walk around The Rocks. Easy walk to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. We have already started talking about our next booking
