The hotel has a lift and features 165 rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. A cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and cash machine are available.     This was our 5th stay at the Great Southern, for 7 nights each time. This is indication enough of our opinion of the hotel. The rooms are good, comfortable, and clean, shower is fine. Location is excellent, close to Central station, across the road to the light rail, so as tourists arriving by train, we found it excellent. Whilst there are no cooking facilities ( kettle tea and coffee are included) the meals at the pub are good, there are also many other places to eat within a few minutes walk.     Great Hotel except for the laundry

    I would have given this Hotel a much better rating but for the laundry facilities, the laundry has 1 washing machine and 1 dryer and the Hotel has 176 rooms. We tried to use the the facility at 2.30 on a Tuesday afternoon and there was 3 people in front of us, so we had to find a laundromat so we had clear clothes to go overseas.     This an older hotel but the location is excellent. Light rail outside front door and Central Railway Station 5 minute walk. The room we had was clean, bed very comfortable. Shower was the best for pressure and heat.We had continental breakfast for $10 each. Just the best food and value.We also had a dinner in the hotel. Once again we felt it was great value for the money we paid. Heaps of food. Hot off the stove and very tasty.Highly recommend. Would definitely stay again.
