Well priced if you need to be in the area

    rating19 Apr 2026

We had a two night stay due to a sporting event. This hotel is well located in North Sydney for this. Its close location to Royal North Shore Hospital also makes it ideal. Rooms are standard Mercure room, quite large with all the usual amenities. We had rooms overlooking the rear, not sure how quiet those overlooking the highway would be, ours were certainly very quiet. Parking costs $25 a night, a bit on the high side I feel given this is not the inner city. Parks are also compact so be careful. However, I think this hotel is popular with groups so even though the hotel was full when we were there, we had no trouble finding a park both nights. Turn right and walk down the highway for about 12 minutes and you are in a shopping zone with lots of cafes and cheaper style restaurants as well as a supermarket. This is also where St Leonards train station is for all major train connections. We were happy with our stay Thompson, at Mercure Sydney St Leonards, responded to this review Dear Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and for awarding us a perfect 100/100 rating! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay, particularly our convenient location, quiet rooms, and easy access to nearby shops, cafés and transport options. A very convenient accommodation!

    rating26 Feb 2026

The hotel is a bit far from Sydney's city center, but it's very pleasant and functional. The room is very large, bright, and offers plenty of storage. It's equipped with a large desk, a flat-screen TV, an armchair and a small table, as well as a refrigerator, a safe, tea and coffee making facilities, an ironing board, and an iron. The bathroom is also spacious. The ground floor houses a coffee shop that prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It also provides room service. It offers a wide variety of rather original dishes. The ground floor is also equipped with a vending machine offering a wide variety of drinks. The housekeeping staff is very discreet but efficient, especially Nicky. Finally, the reception staff is very professional and helpful, especially Priyanka. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the train station and other public transportation.

Fantastic hotel with good service in a great location

We stayed for two nights in this hotel and enjoyed our experience. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room was very comfortable. We had the privilege suite which provided a wonderful balcony with views across Sydney. The hotel is situated in a good location within reasonable distance from the city and the harbour area. The breakfast at Sure Cafe on site is also excellent

    Another wonderful stay!

    rating24 Jan 2026

My wife and I stayed here last January and returned because we really enjoyed it, and we were not disappointed. Checking was prompt and courteous. We again had a room out the back, and were lucky to be given one on the top floor (L4) with a balcony. The room is superb! Large, comfortable, quiet, with a big shower and a spa bath (the we did not use). The large double doors to the balcony allowed us to enjoy outside while inside. It was a lovely place to have a coffee (there’s also a pod machine) and read a book. We could not fault The Mercure. But there more … breakfast in the cafe downstairs was delicious. We can recommend the breakfast wrap and the corn fritters. Another reason to stay here! Highly recommended. 👏

    Good and bad

    rating06 Jan 2026

My wife and I stayed here for a week whilst she was working nearby. I must preface my comments by disclosing that we stayed in the early new year which may have affected the cafe staff and operating hours. The good:Room had double glazing so even though we were fronting Pacific hwy, noise was negligible.Housekeeping staff were friendly and generally efficient. The hotel has a complimentary laundry in the basement which I have never seen before. The location is excellent if you have to visit Royal North Shore Hospital. The bed was large and comfortable. The bad: The cafe was hardly ever open for the first 3 days of our stay. Added to this, the room had no cooking facilities at all and no room service available (it is offered) meaning you had to buy take away or eat at restaurants which proved to be expensive. The shower is tiny and there is no bath. If you are a bigger person you will struggle to get into the shower. The bar fridge in our room was half size meaning you couldn’t store much in it. Given we couldn’t cook or reheat anything, it sufficed. There was complimentary coffee and tea in the room but no coffee cups. I asked twice at reception and eventually bought some plastic cups from the supermarket. Parking is available under the hotel (about 60 bays) but they charge $25 a day for the privilege. There is secure parking available within 2 blocks for $17 a day so I don’t know how they can justify this for hotel guests. Seems like a bit of a price gouge to me.The building has a partial glass roof so if you stay on the 4th (top) floor, the concourse gets very hot on hot days.Overall: average
