    Located near the mouth of the Mersey on Victoria Parade this excellently located and very private accommodation made our stay in Devonport thoroughly enjoyable. Wonderful hosts Rex and Julianne have done a fantastic job in making this your home away from home. Five stars all round.

    Staying with Rex and Julianne was an absolute delight. I spent 14 days in their stunning property with a beautiful garden and located in the most picturesque part of Devonport. The apartment was spacious, full of light and very clean, with the comfiest bed ever. Their beautiful dog Beau was very well behaved and loves a good pat too.Will definitely stay again.

    We were staying in Devonport as the nearest big town to Lake Barrington where we would be watching some of the Australian National Rowing Championships. Birchwood seems to offer a range of types of accommodation and our apartment was located in the hosts’ house. It was large, spacious and well set out. Parking was provided but in difficult locations and not protected from the rain. It rained a lot over our two days here and we found the unprotected path between the car and our apartment a challenge even with umbrellas which had to go in the bathroom to dry off. None of this would be an issue in dry weather. Bed was large and comfortable, and kitchen was well appointed. The fridge had been turned off before we arrived but we didn’t notice as milk was in the door. We had placed liquids in the fridge and were surprised when they weren’t very cold at breakfast. The fridge was easy to turn on and we had cold liquids from then on. I looked for the internet password and it wasn’t till our second day that I spotted the note taped to the tiles above the sink. No major issues, but they caused me to reduce what would otherwise have been a top rating.

    Privacy, comfort and great location with a welcoming greeting from owners Rex & Julianne, were just the icing on the cake after a month long trip around beautiful Tasmania with my husband Alan. Looking out our lounge room window at the Mersey River with the Spirit of Tasmania ferry passing by was wonderful.

    We stayed for two nights before boarding the Spirit of Tasmania the following morning. On arrival it feels like you have driven into a family driveway (mainly as you have!), but the service from the owner was very family oriented too. He met us as we pulled up and showed us to our two bedroom apartment. The owner lives on site and has converted the property to have two self contained apartments. Our apartment was large, had sea views, and was fully equipped. It is a little old fashioned, but very homely and comfortable.Location is very good for restaurants and Devonport exploring. Highly recommended.
