  We have used self-catering apartments for years, both in Australia and overseas. This experience was by far the worst. The apartment is one of three. All are different. We chose this apartment for an 8 day Xmas stay because of its location and the description on the booking site, but Apartment 2 has been misrepresented and judging by some reviews dating back a bit, its problems have not been fixed.The owner had our booking for five months in advance, but we arrived to find the apartment closed up, the fridge off, the rooms hot and stuffy, no toaster, dish rack, clothes horse or toiletry items. Bathroom and kitchen fittings wobble, the bathroom door won't close properly, the shower is dangerous with water leakage onto the tiles, mould around the base (which we had to clean off), an ill-fitting door attached to a cheap frame, no grab handle, cracked tiles and a very dirty exhaust fan grill. The kitchen exhaust fan grill was dirty, the can opener broken and there were chipped and mismatched crockery items.The second bedroom was advertized with a "plush queen sized bed", but instead it was furnished with two single, camp stretcher type beds.The clothes dryer and washer occupy a nook and the dryer is very loud and vents straight into the living area/kitchen. The old bedroom cupboards have broken handles and doors. The spare quilt is stained.There are no fly screens on windows and doors except for one in the main bedroom.The sliding door makes an horrendous squeal when opening. There are no windows to open in the living area.The chandelier style lights need cleaning and there is dust around the washing machine and elsewhere.Poor/indifferent workmanship is evident everywhere.Car parking is close by, but not on the property, so expect to carry luggage up/down a very steep driveway, then further to the apartment by steep unlit steps.The view from this apartment's deck is compromised by the shubbery growing around it.We asked Kanika for a partial refund given that the apartment was misrepresented

  Breathtaking Sight.

  We stayed in Apartment 3 which was a 3 bedroom and 1.5 bath. The wraparound window view that welcomes you is breathtaking! Each of the bedroom was simple but tastefully decorated. It included extra blankets, pillows and individual heaters or fans as needed. The high ceilings with wood beams running across it gave the apartment a sense of space and an architecture which matched the hillside living experience. The open plan living space had a modern kitchen with doorway to a laundry area and also a balcony which looked into the Derwent River on one side and the mountains on the other. The location in Sandy Bay is perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights there. A word of caution to those who may have trouble walking up and down slopes. The apartment is on a hill so parking lot is steep and so is the driveway leading to the units.

  A few days in Hobart

  We picked this place for its location (just outside the centre) of Hobart and near a beach. The two bedroom apartment is spacious with everything you would need (apart from a clothes line that we couldn’t find). There is a large decked area with views over the harbour. The accommodation was clean and the beds comfortable. The accommodation was cheaper than a hotel and in our view better. There is a pleasant beach not far away with a cafe serving good coffee. This accommodation is worth thinking about if visiting Hobart.
