    Great location

    rating18 May 2026

Great location very comfortable rooms just a pity about the view - basically a brick wall! Notwithstanding this the hotel itself is in a perfect location to explore the city, harbour and shopping areas. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast which was included in our package was fab. James Hart, Owner at Movenpick Hotel Hobart, responded to this review Dear Ann,Thank you so much for your lovely review, I am absolutely delighted to read how much you enjoyed your stay with us.It is fantastic to hear that our central location made it easy for you to explore Hobart’s harbour, shopping and surrounding attractions, and that you found your room to be comfortable throughout your visit. I am also particularly pleased that our team left such a positive impression with their friendly and helpful service — I will be sure to share your kind words with them.It sounds like breakfast was a real highlight as well, which is wonderful to hear. Starting the day with something “fab” is exactly the experience we aim to deliver. While I appreciate your comment regarding the view, I am pleased this did not detract from your overall experience, and I would love to welcome you back to try one of our alternative room types, many of which offer more open outlooks across the city or harbour. We truly look forward to your next stay with us for another memorable Hobart experience.Warm regards,James HFront Office ManagerMövenpick Hotel Hobart

    Charged twice for accommodation

    rating01 May 2026

Movenpick Hotel HobartHobartCharged twice for our accommodation1058279465We booked and paid for our two night/ two room stay on The Luxury Escapes site in February. On arrival at the hotel (10/4/26) there seemed to be a problem locating the second room in the hotel’s system so we could only check in to one room while the problem was rectified. The issue was fixed an hour or so later and we then checked in to the second room. Our stay was pleasant (although a Luxury Escapes credit wasn’t applied on checkout) This was rectified after I completed a MÖVENPICK survey on our stay.I thought that was the end of it but I just received our credit card statement and I have been charged AGAIN for one of the rooms that I had already paid for before check in.I have emailed the hotel twice and rang and left a message today and still received no response.Movenpick Hobart has overcharged me $487. I would appreciate someone getting back to me and refunding the overcharge. The staff member I dealt with and had emailed twice and rang was James.NB: The overcharge was apparently refunded on 28/4 after my emails but I was not advised of this. I was finally contacted by MÖVENPICK when I contacted Luxury Escapes support team for their assistance. The money is yet to land in my account. James Hart, Owner at Movenpick Hotel Hobart, responded to this review Dear Catherine,Thank you for your review and for taking the time to speak with me directly.I sincerely apologise again for the confusion and concern caused by the duplicate charge, as well as the delay in communication. I completely understand how frustrating this experience must have been.I am pleased that we were able to confirm together that the matter has now been fully resolved and that the refund has been processed successfully. Your patience throughout this situation is greatly appreciated.Your feedback has been important in highlighting opportunities for us to improve our communication and ensure a smoother experience for our guests moving forward.Thank you once again, Catherine, and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention.Kind regardsJames HFront Office ManagerMövenpick Hotel Hobart

    Fair choice but frustrating

    rating24 Apr 2026

Hobart CBD is not a good place for a hotel. It is busy, cramped, difficult to navigate walking or driving and there is no parking. This hotel is new. It is difficult to access. There are about 4 parks on the street side out the front, with 5 minute only parking. Many non -guests park there much longer so it is hard to get your turn. The street frontage is mainly a busy commuter bus interchange, so it is busy, hence the lack of parking. Once inside, it is lovely and modern, pleasant decor. Front desk staff are friendly, but disorganised, which combined with poor English pronunciation, leads to confusion. Our room was large, quiet, with a great bathroom with a shower space and separate full size bath tub. Bed was a too firm, so aches and pains in the morning. The hotel is almost mid-town, yet only 10 minutes walk to the famous waterfront and Salamanca area. They advertise valet parking. The valet parking desk was unmanned for the duration of our stay. One had to ask the front desk for your vehicle, and it could take up to 40 minutes wait for the vehicle to arrive. Not good for the hefty $40 per night charge. With this in mind, we booked our vehicle the night before we needed it for our very early morning airport departure. When we got to the front of the hotel, they had retrieved the incorrect vehicle. This is where things really went pear shaped. They couldn't get the car out of the carpark. They kept telling us "one more minute" for nearly 30 minutes. Yet we overheard the telephone conversations that they could not retrieve the vehicle from the garage. They were lying to us. In the end, we paid $60 for a taxi to the airport lest we miss our flight to Melbourne and our short connection time for our flight home to Queensland. We just told them to deliver the vehicle to the airport whenever they could get the car out of the garage. Luckily, the rental company said they would not charge us for extra hours. Upon arriving home to Queensland, we did receive a phone call from a junior manager, who apologised. He refunded the valet charges which was nice, but something that we expected anyway. He declined to refund us the taxi fare. At least he rang and offered us something. Hobart CBD is a hideous place for a large hotel if you are driving. The above situation is not entirely the hotel's fault, although as a new build surely this is something that could have been dealt with in the planning and construction phase? The lies and obfuscation were the hotel's fault however. I strongly suggest heading outside the CBD to stay if driving, to avoid wasted time looking for car parks, navigating the busy one way streets and relying on a valet service that doesn't really exist. Would we stay at this hotel again? Unlikely (although we previously stayed at the Crowne Plaza - and their parking situation is even worse and the rooms are small and water damaged). Next Hobart trip we will stay outside the CBD. The whole episode has given us the impression that Hobart is not a great spot to visit, so we won't be returning for some time. James Hart, Owner at Movenpick Hotel Hobart, responded to this review Deat Mero61,Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback following your stay with us.We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the modern design of the hotel, your room, and the bathroom amenities, and we appreciate your kind comments regarding the friendliness of our front office team. That said, we are genuinely sorry for the frustration you experienced, particularly surrounding valet parking and your departure arrangements, which understandably left a strong impression. As a centrally located CBD hotel, we acknowledge that access and parking can be challenging, particularly during peak periods. While valet parking is offered as a service of convenience, it is clear that on this occasion the experience fell short of expectations. The delay in retrieving your vehicle, the impact this had on your airport transfer, and the communication during this time were disappointing and not reflective of the standards we aim to uphold.Following your stay, we did reach out directly to apologise and to better understand your experience. In addition to refunding the valet parking charges, we also discussed reimbursement of your taxi costs and sought to understand what further support or resolution may have been appropriate. While we regret that this did not fully restore your confidence, your feedback has been taken seriously and shared with our leadership team as part of our continued improvement efforts. We appreciate your balanced acknowledgement that not all contributing factors were within the hotel’s control, and we thank you for providing comprehensive feedback. Although we are sorry that your experience means you are unlikely to return, we are grateful that you chose to stay with us on this visit.Kind regards,James HFront Office ManagerMövenpick Hotel Hobart

    Excellent Accommodation in Hobart

    rating05 Apr 2026

Stayed at the Movenpick for two nights on either end of a two-week tour of the island, and enjoyed both stays very much. We arrived early for our first stay, so our luggage was stored until our room was ready. We wandered around Hobart until check-in time, and when we got back our bags had been taken up to our room.Rooms were clean and with space enough for the two of us to move about without being in one another's pocket. The bed was big and comfortable, and the bathroom was large, clean and well lit. If television is your thing, there are plenty of channels available. The hotel is well located - within walking distance of the waterfront, Hobart's main shopping precinct, Salamanca Markets, Tourist Information and tours, and the best restaurants in town. When we returned at the end of our 12-day tour, I was greeted by my first name by the young lady I had met at Reception for our first stay . . . who doesn't appreciate that level of service? I wish I could remember her name - she was a gem. There was - apparently - some sort of issue with our booking, but the Movenpick staff sorted it out with the tour company without drama, and even found me at breakfast to pass on the good news. The restaurant on the ground floor serves an excellent breakfast, and also does a more than adequate dinner (we didn't try lunch). Try the Asparagus and Lemon Risotto - you won't be disappointed. My wife has expressed a wish to visit Hobart again at some time in the future. When we do, I know where we'll be staying. James Hart, Owner at Movenpick Hotel Hobart, responded to this review Dear Steve,Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and uplifting review following your two stays with us. It is wonderful to read how much you enjoyed both visits during your time touring Tasmania.I am delighted that we were able to look after your luggage on arrival and have everything comfortably placed in your room when you returned — a small touch that can make a big difference after travelling. Your kind comments regarding the spacious, clean rooms, comfortable bed, well-appointed bathroom, and in-room entertainment are greatly appreciated and reassuring to hear. Our central location is certainly one of our strengths, and it is great to know it suited your plans so well, with easy access to the waterfront, Salamanca, shopping, tours, and dining. Your feedback on breakfast and dinner at Tesoro Restaurant is also most welcome, and I am particularly pleased to hear the Asparagus and Lemon Risotto left such a strong impression.Your remarks about the service truly made our day. Being recognised by name on your return visit is exactly the level of personalised care we strive to deliver, and I will be sure to share your kind words with our Front Office team — the colleague you mentioned will be thrilled to know she made such a memorable impression. I am also glad our team could resolve the booking matter seamlessly and keep you informed along the way.Thank you again for choosing to stay with us and for recommending Mövenpick Hotel Hobart so highly. Should your wife’s wish to return come true, we greatly look forward to welcoming you both back.Kind regardsJames HFront Office ManagerMövenpick Hotel Hobart
