    Very disappointing experience overall.

    rating12 May 2026

The listing clearly emphasized “pay before check-in,” so I reasonably understood that I would not be charged immediately, especially not 6 months ahead of the stay.Only after being charged over $1,000 did I discover that buried deep in the additional details, the property reserved the right to charge the card in advance. That is extremely misleading in practice when the main booking terms strongly suggest payment would happen closer to check-in.What disappointed me even more was the complete lack of flexibility or understanding from the property when I contacted them immediately after noticing the charge. Instead of trying to help, offer a partial solution, or even acknowledge the confusion, the response was essentially “too bad, no refunds.”This is not a last-minute cancellation. The reservation is still many months away, giving the property plenty of time to rebook the room. Keeping the entire amount under these circumstances feels unreasonable and exploitative.Travel plans change. Visa situations can change. International trips involve significant expenses and uncertainty. I understand non-refundable policies exist, but customer service and basic fairness should still matter.Very disappointing experience overall. Just dont

    rating29 Mar 2026

I stayed at Outback Hotel & Lodge at Ayers Rock Resort for 2 nights and paid $715, and honestly it was extremely disappointing and nowhere near acceptable for the price. The room and bathroom were in very poor condition. The shower area had visible grime and buildup around the edges and tracks, the tiles and grout looked dirty, and overall cleanliness was far below what you would expect even from basic accommodation. There were also visible stains and marks on surfaces, including around the light fixture, which made the whole space feel neglected and unhygienic. This is marketed as a budget option, but at over $350 per night it should still meet a basic standard of cleanliness and maintenance — and it simply didn’t. It felt closer to low-grade hostel quality, not a paid hotel stay at this price point. What made it more frustrating is that other guests were paying similar amounts for significantly better rooms elsewhere in the resort, which makes the value here feel even worse.I understand this is a remote location, but that does not excuse poor hygiene and lack of upkeep. For the cost charged, guests should expect clean, well-maintained facilities at a minimum.Overall, very poor value for money. I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere . Ayers Rock Resort Manager, Marketing at Outback Hotel, responded to this review Dear Manchesterjojojo33,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret that the overall cleanliness of your room did not meet your expectations. In our remote desert location, guests may sometimes notice some discolouration caused by the high mineral content in the local water supply, which is common in remote areas. Please rest assured that all facilities are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised, and we remain committed to ensuring your comfort during your stay.We also hope you were able to report any concerns to the front office team, as they are always available to assist with maintenance or room changes if needed.Kind regardsAyers Rock Resort Team

Outback, laidback or Absolutely no guest service? You choose (hopeless dining venues)

    rating15 Jan 2026

This venue has a great potential, staff at reception do a great job, but the food area is a complete disaster. The staff is non interested into any quality or experience, they run it like a cattle farm. Move benches and close things ignoring you are just sitting there. The guests feel like an annoyance more than the reason they are running this place. I hope someone will train them, there is hope for anything but they have to make an effort.I will be back here but not in this hotel. Ayers Rock Resort Manager, Marketing at Outback Hotel, responded to this review Dear Filippo,Thank you for your feedback. We regret not having met your expectations. We appreciate you highlighting these issues and will review and provide additional training if needed. We look forward to welcoming you back one day.Kind regards,Ayers Rock Resort Team

    Very mixed experience

    rating14 Oct 2025

For a softy sook who’s used to a very different kind of hotel stay, the Outback hotel was a completely different experience. It’s definitely a 3 star,no frills, basic accommodation. Two lines at check in,one for the hotel, one for the hostel. Friendly, informative staff. Room was OK. It’s the small things that make a huge difference to a comfortable stay.Light switches were dirty, gave them a good clean…A bottle of water would have been a nice/basic touch in the room. Ironing board was broken, a couple of light bulbs didn’t work. Our room was only cleaned the first day we were there. Outside, the pool looked really murky, looked like it could have done with a good clean. We ate breakfast there once. Unfriendly staff,Lukewarm food and sour milk in coffee…Food at the kiosk is fairly basic too, but, the chips are fab.Staff there, and at the bar are great. For the money we paid, realistically,it was OK,but, could have been much better. It really is an outback experience,a bed to sleep in. Ayers Rock Resort Manager, Marketing at Outback Hotel, responded to this review Dear R972KJsaram,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found our staff friendly and enjoyed aspects of your stay, including the kiosk and bar.We appreciate your comments regarding room cleanliness, amenities, and food service, and your feedback has been shared with our team for review as we continually strive to improve the guest experience. Ayers Rock Resort aims to provide an authentic outback stay, and we understand that it may differ from more traditional hotel expectations. We hope that despite the challenges, you were able to enjoy your time at Uluru and the unique surroundings of the resort.Kind regards,Ayers Rock Resort Team

    Beauty In The Desert

    rating04 Oct 2025

Stayed 3 days at the hotel, not the lodge. Spotless, newer remodeled room with mini-fridge. Bathroom had plenty of space, hair dryer, make up mirror, dual shower heads and, surprisingly, great water temp and pressure. All staff were very friendly and helpful. There were a few misses: room was not ready until nearly an hour and a half past check in time--this was true for everyone else we talked to. Also, information was not always relayed such as 3 breakfast options at The Bough House (full price for everything, center island/cold food for less or pay ahead for a discount.)Still, this was an amazing value with peaceful, well landscaped grounds and pool by day and an active bar scene at night.Wish we had longer to explore the natural wonder and culture of Uluru and the Anangu people Ayers Rock Resort Manager, Marketing at Outback Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your thoughtful review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, found the rooms spotless and comfortable, and appreciated the friendliness of our team.Almost all guests to Ayers Rock Resort arrive and depart at approximately the same time due to the scheduling of commercial airlines, which can occasionally delay check-in. We regret this inconvenience and also appreciate your feedback regarding breakfast information, which we will review with our team.We are pleased you enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and vibrant atmosphere, and we hope you have the opportunity to return one day to explore more of Uluru.Kind regards,Ayers Rock Resort Team
