    Highly recommend!

We visited the spa for a few hours for the spa and then another day for breakfast. Highly recommend! I lost my bracelet to unlock the lockers, but the staff were fantastic in helping me and didn’t charge us for a replacement! This is a great place for a food and to unwind after a week of skiing. Amazing Spa Day - highly recommend.

    rating06 Aug 2025

We booked the RELAX Wellness De Luxe. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend. Such a beautiful place. There are so many pools to choose from, as well as numerous saunas and solariums. The views were fantastic, especially from the infinity pool on the roof. We had a snack in the restaurant at lunch, which was nice, very reasonably priced, but we had €15 each to spend which we got with the package. Everywhere was clean and staff friendly and helpful. At the end of the day we had a 6 course taster meal. All I am going to say is WOW. The food was phenomenal. Mitchell quality is an understatement. Chef Christof Schernthanter was amazing. When each course was served chef came out and explained what the dish was and where the food was from. All the food was sourced locally. Big shout out to the Matradee who was also made us feel welcome. Can not recommend thisnplace highly enough. 5 stars does not do it justice. Malena Eder, Gästeservice/Empfang at TAUERN SPA Zell am See - Kaprun, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you very much for choosing TAUERN SPA and for sharing such wonderful feedback with us! I am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your RELAX Wellness De Luxe stay and that our pools, saunas, solariums, and the infinity pool with its breathtaking views left such a positive impression. It is also fantastic to hear that you enjoyed your meals, from the lunch snack to the 6-course tasting menu. I am delighted that Chef Christof Schernthanter and our team, including Matradee, made you feel so welcome and provided such an exceptional culinary experience with locally sourced ingredients. Your kind words about the quality of the food and service mean a great deal to us.I am truly grateful for your recommendation and 5-star review, and it was a pleasure to have you as our guest. Enjoyable stay

    rating03 Aug 2025

Given the price of the half board package we were expecting good things and we weren't disappointed. The breakfast buffet has a good, high quality selection. The evening buffet is also excellent with plenty to choose from. The room was good, my only criticism was that we didn't like the see through shower area. We would have preferred the toilet and shower/sink to be in the same room with proper walls around it.The spa and swimming pools are amazing with a view over the mountains. What we hadn't realised is that this hotel doesn't include the Zell am See Summer card. We had assumed they did offer it given most hotels in the area do and that the spa is listed as a bonus partner offer in the app. The Guest Card that is offered instead is worthless in comparison.Given the significant savings the Summer card offers, for this reason alone I don't think we would return again to stay at the hotel, but will certainly visit the spa again for a day when we next visit the area. Malena Eder, Gästeservice/Empfang at TAUERN SPA Zell am See - Kaprun, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you very much for choosing TAUERN SPA for your stay and for sharing your feedback with us. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the quality of our breakfast and evening buffets, as well as the spa and swimming pools with their stunning mountain views. I am also glad that you were satisfied with your room overall.I understand your concerns regarding the see-through shower area. As a wellness hotel, we aim to create open, light-filled spaces, but I completely understand that privacy is important. Should you choose to stay with us again, please let us know in advance, and we will be happy to assign a room that better meets your preferences.Regarding the Zell am See Summer Card, I would like to clarify that, as a wellness-focused hotel, most of our guests come to us to relax and rejuvenate. Therefore, we are not a partner of the Summer Card. We do, however, provide the Zell am See - Kaprun Guest Card, which offers discounts on local excursions and free use of public transport in the Salzburg region.I truly appreciate your feedback and hope that, despite this, we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back to TAUERN SPA, whether for a relaxing stay or a day visit to enjoy our spa and facilities.Warm regardsChiara SoncinDeputy Front Office Manager

Luxury facilities ruined by unacceptable staff behavior

    rating29 Apr 2025

The spa and pools at TAUERN SPA Hotel are absolutely fantastic – beautiful, clean, and relaxing. Unfortunately, this was the only positive part of our experience. We initially tried to book through the hotel’s official website, but the system repeatedly declined our cards. So we completed the reservation via Booking.com, where everything went smoothly. Upon arrival, however, we were told we had two reservations and were expected to pay for both – totaling over $2400. We were shocked. We only ever received confirmation for one room and one booking. The email from the hotel never mentioned an additional charge or any second reservation.Instead of trying to understand or help us, the receptionist was cold and aggressive, threatening to call the police unless we paid immediately. We asked to speak with a manager several times and were denied. It felt like they assumed we were trying to cheat them, which was incredibly insulting. I’ve stayed in many hotels across 70+ countries, but I’ve never experienced such hostility from staff. We tried to offer solutions (e.g., paying for one night and letting the hotel resell the second room), but they refused. No willingness to find a compromise. Eventually, my sister drove 6 hours to the hotel just to use the second room so the money wouldn’t go completely to waste. She arrived after breakfast and kindly asked if she could be offered lunch instead. The answer was a blunt “no.” No effort, no flexibility. No compensation was offered for the unused meals from the extra room we never wanted. The food we did eat was quite good, but no one asked about allergies. When we mentioned one, the staff reacted defensively and blamed us for not saying anything earlier – even though we were never asked.Overall, the stay left us feeling upset and disrespected. The hotel’s reaction to a booking issue – which likely originated on their own site – was shocking. Not a single apology was offered. For a hotel that presents itself as a premium destination, this level of customer service is unacceptable. We were treated like scammers rather than valued guests. It’s truly disappointing to see such a beautiful place with such poor attitude and zero empathy. I cannot recommend TAUERN SPA Hotel. If you care about basic human respect and customer service, look elsewhere – no spa is good enough to make up for this kind of treatment. Malena Eder, Gästeservice/Empfang at TAUERN SPA Zell am See - Kaprun, responded to this review Dear Mr. Sole, Thank you for your detailed and honest feedback.I am truly sorry to hear that, despite enjoying our spa and wellness facilities, your overall experience at TAUERN SPA was overshadowed by the booking issue and the interactions with our staff. It is disappointing to learn that you felt unwelcome and disrespected, this is not the impression we wish to leave with any of our guests.Regarding the double reservation, i understand how upsetting it must have been to arrive expecting one room and be informed that two bookings had been confirmed. We have reviewed the booking process and can confirm that both reservations were independently made and blocked in our system, which prevented us from offering the room to other guests during a high-demand period. Nonetheless, we fully acknowledge that the communication around this situation should have been more empathetic and solution-oriented.I am especially sorry if the tone or approach of our team came across as cold or unhelpful. That was certainly not the intention, and i sincerely regret if you felt accused or dismissed at any point. Every guest deserves to be treated with respect and understanding, especially in a stressful or confusing situation. Please also accept my apologies for the lack of flexibility regarding the meals and food allergies. Your comments highlight areas where we clearly have room to improve – especially in terms of communication, guest interaction, and service attitude.I truly regret that your visit, which began with such good intentions, ended in disappointment. We value your feedback and will use it as an opportunity to reflect on how we can serve our guests with more care and professionalism in the future. With kind regards,Malena EderGuest Relations

Food allergies beware. Will not recommend and will not return

    rating23 Mar 2025

Pros:- good location. Bus stop right outside hotel to the slopes- nice rooms, cleaned daily (note no tea or coffee facilities in the room), comfy bedsTo note: there are 2 main spa areas. One just for hotel guests (rooftop, nice views, nice spa) and the separate spa which is for public access (this is the main spa used in social media posts. This is very popular with families. If you want a quieter experience, access the rooftop spa). You can access the public spa for a day if you are not a hotel guest. Cons:We spent a long time researching this hotel and chose it due to the well advertised meal options, which could cater for dietary requirements. My partner is allergic to gluten and dairy. We emailed the week before confirming this, to get a response that this would be no problem to cater for. We stayed for 5 nights on half board and had issues from day 1. The staff misunderstood ‘dairy’ allergy, with ‘lactose’ free. A mistake they admitted on day 3. On day 4, when we spoke with the bar and restaurant manager, he admitted that all of my partners meals should have been prepared in their allergy section in the kitchen, which they had not been. (By this point, we had been to reception twice, been promised a chef would assist every mealtime with guidance round the buffet, and other meal options - which was only provided once, had to stop chefs at an open grill using the same hot plate and utensils to prepare dairy free meals with the same equipment used to make non allergy meals, and many more issues). The result of this being, my partner was very poorly most of the holiday. The staff were rude, we were made to feel uncomfortable during mealtimes, we were not listened to when we repeatedly questioned their preparation and ingredients of supposed ‘dairy free’ meals, and we lost all faith in them. My partners meal choices were hugely restricted due to their lack of food standards education, and the hotel does not adhere to the EU Food Safety Authority Standards reg 1169/2011 stating mandatory allergen information for non pre packed food, including in restaurants and cafes (Specific to Austria - allergen information regulation BGBL II No. 175/2014). To be clear, their buffet food and their menus for set meals does not consistently state allergens associated to each foodstuff. We were not offered any compensation. We would never return, will not recommend, and would advise to approach with caution if you have food allergies.
