  Great family ski holiday!

  This was our third time staying at this hotel and we love it everytime! The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and cleaned to a high standard. The food is good and there is always plenty of it! Marcus is a fantastic host. Nothing is too much trouble and he’s goes out of his way to ensure we have everything we need. The location is perfect and we can’t wait to go back again!

  Close to the slopes

  I’m actually a bit surprised over the high scores this place gets from other Trip Advisors. I will for sure rate its location high (in the middle of Hopfgarten - just a ten minutes walk from the slopes), but the place is indeed dated and the standard quite low. The rooms have probably looked the same since 1980 and so has the old carpets.... The cleaners do make a good job, but when the bathroom furniture is as old as at this place it doesn’t look fresh anyway. The half board included a very simple breakfast (boiled eggs, but no hot dishes) and three courses dinners. We had some good dishes over the week, but mainly the food served where prepared without neither fantasy nor interest. Instant mashed potatoes, over cooked vegetables and desserts made from powder doesn’t really cheer you up after a long day in the slopes. The owner is for sure nice and so is the staff, but we have no wish to return.

  We stayed at the hotel for one week in a 2 bed room with WC/Bath. Markus was always there to attend to the guests needs. Cleaning staff was very friendly and discrete. Breakfast and dinner are good. The location is ideal for winter sport vacation , just a 10 minute walk to the ski lifts.

  We stayed for a week for winter sport vacation. We were all amazed by extend of hospitality from the kind and nice owner. I recommend it for families as well as couples. You will definitely miss it and want to go back in future.

  Warm and friendly Hotel with delicious food

  I was overwhelmed with kindness and smile of the owner who was always ready to help and creating home-like ambiance. Markus greeted us warmly and had waited for us with dinner despite the fact that we were seriously late. Imediately I felt at home. Our room was comfortable with lovely large windows and great balcony. Our bed was large with spotless, fresh bedding. Bathroom was clean, large, looked like freshly renowated one. Room was cleaned daily. Towels can be changed daily as well if we prefer. I enjoyed flat TV in the room and nice selection of channels. However I would prefer to have at least one Polish channel ;-). Wifi was working seemlessly thru all our stay in the whole hotel. Hotel is located in the historic center of charming Hopfgarten in the calm and quiet area. Nothing was disturbing us from sleeping. We where enjoing being in the center during our evening walks. Hotel is situated about 200m from ski lift. That gave us opportunity to warm up it the morning a bit ;-) But, if you don't like to walk in the ski boots there is ski depot at the lift station that you can use. What I especially appreciated was wonderful breakfast every day. On my previous visits in hotels in Austria I was bored after few days with the same ham, cheese and paté served everyday. Here you can enjoy a large variety everyday! Different cerials and muslis, different cheese and ham every day, eggs, jams and honeys (yes, two kinds of honey!), five different kinds of bread, tomatoes, herring and my favorite spicy peppers! They were amazing Thank You Markus! Ah I should not forget chocolate cream and fruits ;-). Dinners were even better. Starting with delicious salad bar with seasonal vegetables, thru assorted dished from a local tyrolean cuisine to amazing desserts to die for! Markus with the help of a lovely lady were serving drinks and dishes quickly and always with lovely jokes and smile. I gained some weight, but well, it was worth it! Hopfgarten is not a place to party. There are not many bars/restaurants there, but you can stay at the hotel as Markus has large selections of wines, beers and spirits in his offer.Now, about the things that I think still have room for improvement ;-) First is ski room. There is ski boots dryer which is great, but ski room is clattered and there is no enough seating place there. This is annoying especially in the morning when there are many people changing at the same time. Place for skis is limited too and its hard to maneuver between ski stand and beer barrels. What I liked is the fact that ski room is on the same level as the street so you don't have to walk on stairs with your skis. What I also lack was an electric kettle I could use in between the meals and free of charge. I would greatly appreciate possibility of having nice tea as often as I like. Apart of that I enjoyed my stay at Unterbrau very much!!! Markus is wonderful! Hotel has everything what you need for a perfect ski vacation. Definately worth visiting! Markus we will be back!! ;-)
