    Charming, classy hotel in the heart of downtown Salzburg

    We spent two nights here, and loved it. It is in the heart of alstadt and you can walk to several sights, like the castle and square. It's also in close proximity to several restaurants.Unlike many older European hotels (I think this one is hundreds of years old), this one has an elevator; very nice if you have bags to carry. The room was great for the price. They are also knowledgeable about the town and surrounding area. An added bonus is that it has a large movie theater! But I believe that all of the films are in German. Besides, you didn't come to Salzburg to watch movies, did you? ;-)

    Walkable Location ~ Excellent Historic Hotel ~ Friendly helpful Staff

    We stayed in room 209 for 3 nights which was a large room with a 3rd bed and a couple of chairs. This is a historic hotel which has a cinema included and a very nice Italian restaurant which we dined at twice during our stay.Very walkable area and easy access to the Christmas Markets, which was the purpose of our stay.Free bus for tourists also available and the stop is not far from the hotel. We used this to take us to Red Bull Hangar 7 which was also very good to visit.Staff at hotel were friendly and helpful. They booked us a taxi to take us to the airport.Would definitely stay here again.

    This place is an absolute dump. It started when they couldn’t make change for a 20€ note so that I could tip the bellman! The room was dirty with hair left in the bathroom tub and sink from previous occupants. Lights were out and bulbs needed to be replaced. When requesting additional pillows they brought up three additional pillows covered in wet pillowcases that smelled as if they had been washed with an ashtray And we’re still wet. We had a sweet and they take great liberty in describing the room as a suite. The furniture feels like it has been there since the building was wrecked several hundred years ago. Their towels were ragged and the pillows or slightly thicker than two sheets of paper when the pillowcases thicker than the pillow You know there is a problem. I had them wash and press two shirts , both of which they had to redo because I could’ve done a better job pressing with a cold brick. They came back whack and more wrinkles then a 90 year old former beauty queen.Open travelling to Salzburg for over 50 years and stayed in a variety of hotels. All of my regular hotels were booked as this was a last-minute trip and this was the only one available. The suite was described in terms that could’ve been in Grimm’s fairytales with about as much accuracy. I would sooner sleep on the street than ever go back to this dump and our friends were equally disappointed.
