  Outdated, poor quality and too hot

  I was expecting nice things from this hotel as the pictures looked good but don’t be fooled. The rooms are so outdated. Our room had black mould on the ceiling, water stains all over the ceilings, the ceiling paint was all coming off, chips all over the walls. Because it’s spring there’s no air con and the rooms are disgustingly hot even with the windows open. The tv in the room had hardly any channels That worked. You can hear everything outside, above you and in the hallways. I wouldn’t say it’s city centre either. 15 minute walk to a train station and 40 minute walk to the fortress. It definitely was not worth £90 per night. The rooms could do with a serious clean up, repaint and bathroom transformation. Thank you for letting us know and giving us the chance to improve.It is true that in winter and spring the air conditioning is lower than in summer, caused by outside temperatures usually between -3°C and 7°C (January to March) with a lot of snow. In spring, temperatures are usually between 1°C and 16°C (April). Since yesterday, the air conditioning is set to summer mode to provide a well-cooled hotel room.The hotel is located in the Schallmoos district, north of the city centre. Approximately 3.1 km from the historical old town with most sights, e.g., Mozart’s birthplace, the Fortress Hohensalzburg, Getreidegasse, the cathedral St. Peter, and the city mountain Mönchsberg. Mirabell Garden is at a distance of 1.2 km, Hellbrunn and the Zoo are in the south of Salzburg. Since 1st May 2025, all Salzburg overnight guests can use public transportation included with the Guest Mobility Ticket.   First time staying at this IHG property and the overall experience was only ok. The location of the hotel to the train station is less than a 15 minute walk and easy to find.When checking in, we waited about 10 minutes for the hotel staff member to check us in, and since she was the only one working, I understand why it took so long. She was friendly, and provided good service.Our room was on the 6th floor, and since we had checked in when it was dark, our view came in the morning, which was quite a great view of the mountains. It was nice to wake up to.The room definitely feels and shows how outdated it is, especially the bathroom. The bed wasn't the most comfortable compared to other IHG properties. The air conditioning was awful. It kept shutting off throughout the night, so luckily we were able to open up a window, but it kept getting hot which did not make for a pleasant sleep.There were issues with the internet that didn't allow us to access Netflix or prime on the TV, but fortunately we had a long day of travel so it didn't matter much. The hotel room did not wow me besides the view and was average or slightly below average of what I expect from IHG properties. Only the location and the views were the good parts of the stay.   I wish I could give 0 stars but I gave 1 star for the marvelous Women at check in. They were sweet, kind and lovely. They were the only good part about this hotel experience. The rest was awful. The room had to be over 80 degrees and there was no AC. It was like being in an oven, especially as a 50 year old woman. My teenager never complains but asked to sleep on the street because she was so hot. There was a bloody maxi pad in the bathroom behind the trash that mush have fallen out. Tons of dark long hairs in and on our bed. I am currently on a train to Vienna itching like crazy and fearing I may have been sleeping with bedbugs (bites all over my legs). Definitely avoid this hotel. Our technical team has reviewed the room temperatures and found no malfunctions or overheating. It is true that, due to the cooler outdoor temperatures, the heating is set higher to ensure our guests are comfortable in their rooms. If you have any photos of the room’s temperature display, please share them with us—this would help us understand what happened.We are also very concerned about your mention of possible bedbugs. Our housekeeping team has thoroughly inspected all rooms and found no evidence of bedbugs.   No interconnected rooms. We had four people in separate rooms. Neither room had a working tv. No free breakfast for kids despite their app saying so. Twenty one euros a person and doesn’t even come with an omelette. Room service upon request only.   It's alright. It's like every other standard holiday inn and the view is not good. However, the front desk and other people treated us well. I asked for bottle opener and other stuffs, the bartender served it nicely. For a quick night in Salzburg, I couldn't ask for more.
