    A quaint Bavarian Inn that caters to locals

    This is the only negative review I am posting from our recent trip thru Austria Italy and Greece, of 8 hotels and inns. We had a 3 night stay at the Obermayer Inn, a 35 minute drive to Salzburg. The first night dinner was terrible, over salted, a mess of a presentation, meat was tough, just an overall extremely disappointing meal. The rooms were small, not a lot of space to move around, tripping over our luggage, no bar fridge, bathrooms small. Beds and bedding was very nice. Breakfasts were good, staff worked diligently to stock the buffet presentation, line up at the coffee machine, had to wait, bit of a nuisance. Third and last night we decided to give the hotel restaurant another try, unfortunately it was closed for a private event, only drinks. This was another disappointment, why couldn’t they have told us, why couldn’t they have posted notices that it would be closed? We wound up back in Salzburg, driving around looking for a suitable place to eat that wasn’t pizza or fast food. Returning to the Obermayer after a fine meal at another hotel we discovered the parking lot full and overflowing, we had to park on the shoulder of the highway 100 metres away. This private event ended after 10:00 pm and we were able to move the car into a legal parking spot on hotel property. Private event, drinks only, designated drivers, maybe, but I viewed several men leaving on their own. I believe this to be a favourite gathering place for locals, there is even a table in the dining area set aside for locals only, friendly, they smile and say hello. My brother in law who has stayed there twice before and had very nice things to say about the Obermayer, how quaint it is, Bavarian inn, now swears he will not stay there ever again. The good; the bed and bedding was very nice, the breakfast staff worked diligently, and parking was free, if you could find a parking spot.

    Please note that my review is based on a cheaper room - we paid 80 euros. Had we paid 100 euros for the nicer room I am sure my review would be a four rather than a three as the room is spacious and not on the road. The room we had overlooked the road and it was very noisy. We sleep with white noise and still the traffic was loud. This room is cramped and, although generally clean, the carpet could be replaced. We had wine and a hamburger downstairs and it was good. Breakfast was great and the waitress was very nice! There is free parking.

    We Are Surely Getting Back to Obermeyer very soon ,Its A Family Run Place with Good Food Wonderful Ambience to Stay,Lots of Woodwork and Great Craftmanship all around the place.Worth Every Penny.though this place is about 15kms from Saltzburg,Uber is Just a Click Away.

    Very conveniently located only 20 km from Saltzburg. Small family-run hotel gives an excellent opportunity to chill out while surrounded by stunning views of mountains all around. For the first time in years we were offered with a nice 2-bedroom family accommodation at a very reasonable price. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfy. Max and his staff went above and beyond to keep their guests satisfaction at the highest level offering lifts, recommending tourist attractions, giving a loan of sledges and toboggans for the kids etc. The food was always fresh and very tasty. Couldn't recommend this hotel more.

    Good stop for visiting Salzburg and lakes

    Nice and simple hotel located half way from Salzburg and St Gilgen. The location make this hotel a nice and relaxing stop if you are planning to visit Salzburg region. The city is only 20 minutes drive and the lakes' area is 10-15 minutes by car.The room are simply, with TV and very small bathroom. No fridge or minibar, but the hotel run also a restaurant on the ground floor. Big free parking. Staff is very helpful.
