    Well situated for exploring Salzburg.

We found the hotel to be in an ideal location for exploring the city. It was easy to find from the airport using public transport and the rooms were good value . We did not eat at the hotel so can not comment on food.

Quiet, vintage styled, elegant hotel. Excellent staff, walking distance to the station.

The hotel is elegant, staff is very friendly. It is very quiet and the overall pace relaxed and let‘s one unwind. I especially like the sitting room with the gramophone and many long players. The hotel has got an old fashioned vibe and look but is very well kept, clean and all works smoothly. The selection at the breakfast buffet was a medium range but each dish (that I had) was of very good quality. One can find different types of bread (sliced), cereal, cornflakes, nuts & seeds as well as cold cuts (meat/cheese). There are savory vegan spreads and a selection of homemade jams. A range of tea as well as juices are prepared, coffee can be taken from the coffee machine by oneself. There are plenty of milk choices including several milk-alternatives. Table service includes different types of egg-dishes (made to order). The rooms are fairly spacious and very clean. The bathroom is modern, the bedroom has classic, wooden furniture.

    Hotel stays

If you want an old school experience, where you are treated well and the hotel is unique and you matter as a guest and are cared about, this little hotel is a great place to stay, an easy walk from the station and an easy walk to the Old Town in Salzburg, but tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Salzburg. I am happy I stayed here during my Europe trip.

5 great nights at the Markus Sittikus

    rating09 Oct 2025

We loved this hotel, has a lot of nice character and really comfortable. We were on two rooms on the top floor which was great. We didn't have the breakfast (we never do in hotels normally as always expensive) and there was an excellent bakery just round the corner. Why did we like it? The owners seemed rather cool (in a good way), and if you are expecting to be fawned over - forget it, but were very helpful with enquiries. I loved the fact they have an amazing record collection that you're free to listen to, also they have a kind of honesty bar for drinks, free coffee (its not ideal not having kettles in the room but it was fine) and the public rooms are very tastefully boutique-y. Location is pretty good, especially for the main Salzburg Central station, but only 15 mins walk to the Old Town. Happy days! NB it is not at all wheelchair friendly, but blame 19th Century architects for that.
