    rating19 May 2026

We had a fabulous six nights here, and would gladly return. Pros:- lovely room, not as artistic as those on the website but super comfortable. - relaxed atmosphere, quiet but nice bar, and outdoor garden if weather is good- brilliant breakfast, full of quality organic products- walking to Prater is great for evening entertainment - easy to get to the airport - direct trainsCons:- not as central as some hotels… it’s about half an hour back from the centre. - room was shower only, no bath

Got items and money stolen from my room.

    rating26 Apr 2026

The hotel it self is good. But my entire experience was ruined on my last night.I called the reception to ask if they had security footage of the entrance of the hotel. They said they did but it did not record anything. Me and my mom came back to the hotel, my mom was with her black coat. This was 2 nights before we left. My mom entered the room and hung her black coat inside the wardrobe and stored 900 euros inside one of it’s pockets. We don’t usually put money inside the safe because everyone knows that the hotel can open it at any time. So we always hide the money inside the clothing. Just keep in mind that at the same time my mom hanged her coat and stored the money on one of its pockets, she already picked out another coat, this time brown, we always pick our outfits the night before and leave on the chair/table. We woke up the next morning and headed out. We were leaving the hotel the next morning. When we came back, and started packing to leave the next morning, she opened the wardrobe and asked if I had taken her black coat. I said no. We unpacked all of our luggage before making any kind of accusation. I then called the reception and asked about the cameras. After looking for her coat (that had the money inside) everywhere, we realized it had vanished from the wardrobe. Of course we looked for the money everywhere as well. I then headed down to the reception and very discreetly asked to talk to someone in another place more private. The guy at the reception listened very carefully to what I was saying and told me he would report it to the manager. The next morning I came to the reception a little earlier to speak to the manager. She showed me the entrances of the housekeeper in my room. And said: “we asked her if she took the coat and she said no”. I then replied saying that I had never seen someone steal something and then admit to it. She also said that it was not part of the housekeeping to open the wardrobe (?). And there was nothing she could do. Why I asked for the cameras ? Simple. I wanted to prove that my mom came back with the black coat and left the next morning with a brown one. Therefore the black coat had never left the hotel. I got very disappointed at how they handled it. Cameras that don’t record. Not believing what I was telling them. I don’t want to get into details of brands or whatever, but it was not an inexpensive coat, and we also lost our 900 euro that was kept inside a small plastic bag.Just to be clear: whenever my mom takes any amount of money out, she carries with her passport inside a closed big wallet. Not in her cards/coins wallet. Roman Mayrhofer, Geschäftsführer at Der Wilhelmshof, responded to this review Dear Victoria, thank you for being our guest and taking the time to review your stay in our hotel! We are very sorry that you had a bad experience during your stay - but unfortunately, you skipped some details so we take the opportunity for completion:Hotel room safes are a good choice to increase security for your personal valuables. The fact that the hotel management can open the safes in case of emergency does not decrease security - especially not in comparison to leaving your valuables unlocked. Beside that, we also offer to store your valuables at the reception (against receipt) so that you can transfer the risk/liability to the hotel - an offer you did not take us up on. Our cameras do not record anything - they are an organisational help and only used internally to inform our staff live where our guests need them (lobby, bar, garden etc.). Please note that there is no obligation whatsoever to have camera recordings in a hotel. However, what surprised us (beside the fact that you left the hotel without paying a part of your hotel bill) was your strict refusal to call the police. As you told our receptionist and manager about your missing belongings we did what we could: we checked the lock of your room (beside you only one member of our housekeeping staff entered the room with the keycard) and the door itself (for damages) and asked our staff members if they noticed anything special. As this did not bring out any relevant information, we offered you to call the police to make a report - and you strictly refused. With this refusal you missed the chance to get your mothers coat (and eventually the money) back in case it was found somewhere... Lastly, we want to point out a legal perspective: the fact that you are telling us that you are missing something does not automatically mean that the hotel has to refund - this liability would only be the case if the hotel or its employees caused this problem. In your case it would have been equally possible that you or your mother did not close the room door properly. In this case, the room lock would have no recorded entry - why should the hotel be held accountable for this? The police could maybe find out - but you refused to call them and preferred to leave us without paying the rest of your bill. However, we are sad that you left us with a negative experience and wish you all the best for the future. Roman MayrhoferGeschäftsführender Gesellschafter
