Historical city In the heart of the city

    rating29 Mar 2026

Our stay at Graben Hotel was truly memorable. The hotel itself is beautifully historical, with so much charm and character, you can really feel the heritage the moment you step in. The location is also a huge plus, right in the heart of everything. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready to help and making our stay even more comfortable. If there’s one small area for improvement, it would be the amenities, particularly the heater, which could be upgraded for better comfort, especially during colder days.Overall, a wonderful stay with timeless charm. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a classic Vienna experience. If you want to feel like you’re in the old town then this is definitely the place to be Eva Kremslehner, Inhaber at Graben Hotel, responded to this review Dear Jasmine!Thank you very much for your kind and detailed review. Great location, clean room, and very friendly staff.

    rating02 Feb 2026

The hotel is centrally located just a few meters from Graben and perhaps a minute walk to Stephansplatz, the geographical center of Vienna. You walk everywhere to the main museums, shopping, cafes, restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are equipped with everything that you need, classic period furniture, clean, comfortable size room and a modern bathroom. The street is quiet (off Graben) and a very safe neighborhood. I highly recommend for single, couples, family. If you stay on this hotel you don’t need to buy public transport tickets, which I found expensive at €3.20 per ride. Even Belvedere is a 30 min max walk. Eva Kremslehner, Inhaber at Graben Hotel, responded to this review Dear client, thank you very much for your fantastic review! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Graben Hotel and that you appreciated our central location near Stephansplatz, the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of our team.We truly value your recommendation and hope to welcome you soon again.Kind regards, the Kremslehner family and our team at the Graben Hotel

    Nice hotel close to everything

    rating14 Dec 2025

Excellent location and very helpful and attentive staff. It is not luxurious, rooms and bathrooms are small, but everything is adequate. We asked for a different room, and the staff did their best to accommodate us, even though the hotel was full. Try to get a room away from the elevator, it is very noisy. Probably some of the best pillows we ever had in a hotel. Breakfast was good and plentiful, but with limited fresh fruit selection (it was December, after all). We would definitely stay there again. Eva Kremslehner, Inhaber at Graben Hotel, responded to this review Dear guest!Thank you very much for your kind review. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated our central location, our attentive team and the comfort of our pillows. Thank you as well for your understanding regarding room size and breakfast selection, and for noting our efforts to accommodate your room change despite the hotel being fully booked. Your comment about the noise near the elevator is very helpful and will certainly be taken into account.Seasons greetings, your family Kremslehner on behalf of your Graben Hotel team

Room with a view over dead birds

    rating04 Apr 2025

Graben hotel has been my choice for stay during short business trips to Vienna for the last 8 years or so. Excellent location, clean and comfortable rooms. It was like that until my recent stay there in March. I got a room on the last floor, it was so small it barely contained a bed, a chair and a small table, no place for clothing except some hooks on the wall. But worst of all was the view over some netting with stuckremains of dead birds. Will be looking for another place to stay next time, not willing to repeat the experience :( Eva Kremslehner, Inhaber at Graben Hotel, responded to this review Dear guest!Thank you so much for your honest feed back. We are so sorry that you do not want to return after your last stay.We are so sorry that the room usually assigned to you was not available this time. The problem is that the courtyard and the dead birds you are talking about does not belong to our Hotel but to the house in the next street. Therefor we only can ask as neighbours to remove the birds but cannot take any direct actions! We hope that we will get another chance after so many years! We send our excuses from Vienna, your family Kremslehner

    Wow...not good at all

    rating06 Mar 2025

Our arrival to this hotel left us late at night, initially, with a positive view. We were told breakfast was included and shown where to go. Our room was extremely small, we knew this, but there was no room for the luggage. We managed and were not too disappointed with this. The room had a street view, which we appreciated.About 30 minutes after check-in we double-checked the lock and opened the door to a strong smoke smell that was not there when we arrived. Next morning when we left for breakfast and smelled smoke, again. We reported it and were told it would be taken care of. I am extremely allergic and have allergies and asthma issues. The smell was intermittent, indicating someone was smoking, then it would dissipate. We told an employee at the front desk (Atilua?). She said she would take care of it. Returned to find a Febreze type smell in our room and assumed the hallway was sprayed and it seeped into our room. The smoke smell continued off and on. We saw Atilua in the afternoon and told her it smelled right then and she said she would send her colleague, Jason, to the hallway to see if he smelled. Jason said that the smoke smell was coming from the carpet. We returned to our room after a night out and once again there was a Febreze smell, but really strong. We realized that someone had entered our room and sprayed, both times, and we had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door! I confronted Atilua and she said yes, she had employees enter our room to spray. I did NOT give permission to enter our room! She knew I had severe allergy to smoke so why would perfumed spray be better? I reminded her the sign was on the door and she said, “I know but…” continually. She gave me two names of managers to speak with the next day.In the am went for breakfast (the third time), and the server brought us a bill. I said it was included (and neither day before was a bill brought). I went to the front desk and spoke to Suleiman, who was aggressively rude and disrespectful. He said we did not have breakfast included and that I booked the room so it’s my fault for not knowing in advance. I explained that we were told it was included, but he reiterated, in a condescending voice, that it was our fault. A manager (Leo I believe) heard the heated exchange and came to assist. I explained what happened and he said if it is what we were told, then he would fix the bill and we would not be charged. I also explained that our room was entered without permission when we had a do not disturb sign on the door. I tried to explain to Suleiman that sometimes hotels offer breakfast to all guests, whether it was included may not be clearly stated. He cut me off and said the problem was resolved. I asked him what his name is and he called Leo to talk to me, who gave me his name. The day we checked out Suleiman was once again at the desk. We settled our bill and I asked for a receipt for our deposit. He said it wasn’t possible because the room hadn’t been checked. He had the room checked and said everything was fine, but again, we asked for a receipt as other guests complained about charges after the fact. He said it was a different department and they would email it (they never did). I asked if he could write down that the room was in good condition and I would on the deposit. He got very angry, raised his voice, and was more condescending and rude than the prior day. He continued to cut me off and would not let me explain about the other guests’ incidents. My husband intervened and he finally gave me five seconds. I showed him the negative reviews, but all he did was roll his eyes and tap his fingers on the counter. He was training a gentleman who was very kind, and I hope this man now understands what customer service is not supposed to be. Suleiman told me to file a complaint about him, so here is one of them. When we left I saw two boys in the lobby (approximately eight and six years old), who sadly witnessed Suleiman’s mistreatment of me. The eight-year-old waved goodbye to me and smiled at me. I smiled back and waved goodbye. He then pointed at Suleiman, shook his head with a frown, and gave a thumbs down. Children are amazing judges of character. Eva Kremslehner, Inhaber at Graben Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time and giving us feedback on TripAdvisor after your recent stay at our Graben Hotel. To start with, we want to apologize for the inconveniences caused during your stay and of course we have discussed the behavior with our staff. Unfortunately, the most of it has been a misunderstanding and a lack of passing on the right information. Regarding breakfast: Among your booking you chose the option accommodation WITHOUT breakfast. We are not sure, what exactly happened at check-in and why our receptionist thought your breakfast was included – but the booking you choose was without breakfast, with the option of having breakfast at the hotel paying directly on-site. After complaining at reception and discussing with our hotel director, he decided to invite you for breakfast and cancelled the supplement charge for it – hoping this way to solve the problem/the misinformation at check-in. Regarding the smell in your room: this was very strange… we are a NON SMOKING Hotel, smoking is forbitten in all public areas and rooms at the hotel and your complain referring to this posed a challenge. You complained the smell coming and going… At check-in there was no smell, after a few hours there was a smell, and so on… you put the “do not disturb” sign at the door, and we should not enter your room, and we really want to apologise for this, but on the meantime, you complained about the smell in the room. So how should we solve the problem without entering your room? Our team tried only to help and to make sure, you will have a pleased stay with us – it was not intended to upset you over and above… and we are sorry, that the scent spray displeased you too. Regarding our receptionist: We can only excuse for this misbehavior and the rudeness that was shown to you. Please be assured that we have discussed this with him and the whole team, that this kind of situations won´t occur again. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. With conciliatory words, we send you our best regards, your family Kremslehner
