    Wonderful hotel

    rating11 Dec 2025

Great location for a base for exploring the city. Wonderful service from check-in to check-out. We stayed in room 408 - very comfortable, roomy bathroom, quiet and clean. The breakfast presentation was outstanding, even offering a glass of Prosecco. The generosity of the host deserves special mention. Cosy atmosphere that you don't get with the big chains. Perfect city break hotel

    rating27 Nov 2025

We stayed for 5 nights in November 2025. The location of the hotel is ideal - 10 minutes walk from most of the top attractions in the city and in easy reach of the excellent Cafe Museum (a must) and a great wine bar a few steps away from the hotel door! The hotel is clean. The room had everything we needed. It is a professional family owned hotel rather than a soulless corporate place. The owners / staff were very helpful and gave us good advice about Christmas markets etc. There is a small bar area in the reception - ideal for a coffee or a night cap! Near attractions and public transport, roomy, safe - we enjoyed it

    rating14 Sept 2025

I had looked for hotels close to the Vienna city center and compared features. This place seemed to be a good option. The only thing I was hoping to find was where breakfast was included, but that wasn’t part of our package (though it was available on-site).The hotel is about a block from an entrance to the Karlzplatz subway station. That station is fairly large, and this entrance is at the end of a 300-meter underground walkway (that keeps you out of traffic and the weather). That stop is also just 2 away from the central subway station where you connect to the airport, btw. The hotel is also within a 15-minut walk of the Hofburg complex and less than that to major tram routes that can get you to other attractions. The hotel offers 3 room sizes, the largest which can accommodate 3 – 4 persons. I think it was called the apartment configuration. It was fairly spacious and had a small kitchenette (with a small burner set but no microwave). You had to ask if you wanted cookware. We appreciated the space, though, especially compared to some other places (I’m looking at you, Amsterdam). The shower was nice, with a rainfall head and a handheld sprayer. The soap for the sink and shower were in suspended bottles that you had to squeeze to get the soap. There was air conditioning, which was nice after a hot afternoon. The staff was always friendly and helpful. When the soap ran out once, they had to come to the room to change the bottle (with some keyed tool) but were there right away. As for breakfast, we did make use of the hotel’s offering on 2 days. They charge 21 Euros apiece. We also had breakfast out at a nearby café, and it cost almost 60 Euros for 3 of us, so the hotel’s offering isn’t that pricey. Later, we opted to get items (yogurt, juice, croissants, fruit) from a nearby market (Spar) about 2 blocks away, and that was a convenient and even cheaper option. The only minor negative we had with the room was that the walls were a bit thin. A couple of different sets of room neighbors were semi-audible when they came in. The noise level will depend on those in the adjacent rooms, though. There was not much, if any, street noise, though. I’d consider staying here again. Good calm hotel ideally located

    rating26 Jun 2025

I stayed 5 nights at the Hotel Secession in June 2025 and found it very good. Some of the plus points:- Excellent service at the front desk. No rushing, they took time to explain everything with a smile.- Clean and spacious room (room 207 in my case)- Calm despite the central location especially as my room as at the back- A new water bottle every day- Air conditioning at room level so that I could control how much I neededIf I have one point for improvement it would be the breakfast which I think is overpriced at 21 euros. Lovely clean friendly hotel

    rating22 Jun 2025

Stayed with friends, good size rooms with all amenities, very helpful friendly staff. Clean hotel. Breakfast mostly continental, not much choice if your prefer a cooked breakfast but very good selection of continental breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel right in the centre of Vienna. Fairly quiet too. Elisabeth Dissauer, Geschäftsführer at Hotel Secession An Der Oper, responded to this review Dear Guest, thanks for your comments.
