This hotel is centrally located in the quiet old Viennese Biedermeier passage, Sünnhof. It is just a few minutes' walk to countless shopping venues, restaurants, bars, wine bars, cinemas, banks and the city park, St. Stephen's cathedral, St. Charles' church, the state opera and the famous Hundertwasserhaus. Rochusgasse on the U3 underground line as well as Landstraße on the U4 line are both to be found close by (approximately 500 m). There is a direct connection to the airport available via the CAT (City-Air-Terminal) express service from Landstraße/ Wien Mitte underground station.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1816. The hotel has 21 junior suites, 12 suites, 31 single rooms and 137 double rooms, which are located on 4 storeys and are reachable by 2 lifts. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel offers various facilities for guests with disabilities. A number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a library.     Wonderful hotel. Great value for money and a wonderful, central location. Breakfast is great- not just continental as some European hotels are. Adjoining restaurant is good (but pricey) Bonus is the Hofer (Aldi) next door. Grab a sandwich for lunch or a bottle of wine for later. (£28 in the bar!) As long as you realise everything closes on Sundays.

    Quaint good location but disappointed no lounge or bar area open to use.Staff very friendly but surprised had to ask after two days if room was going to be serviced. My single mattress of twin had springs coming through! Would have preferred just shower as shower wrong end of bath as screen could not open against sink so very slippery having to get into shower from other end of bath! Breakfast and restaurant very good

    We stayed at the Mercure for 4 nights and found it was well located to explore the city. A lot of the sights were within 20 minutes walking distance and the railway station is around a 10 minute walk with a rail link to the airport and also an underground terminal which we made use of. Tickets for the underground are easy to obtain from the ticket machine. The hotel staff were all lovely, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good with a variety to suit all tastes. We ate in the restaurant on one occasion and had a delicious crispy chicken burger. We didn’t fancy the Austrian food on offer. Our room was clean and comfortable but just a few negatives. Firstly the bathroom could do with a makeover. The shower doors, which didn’t seem to be hanging on very securely, didn’t meet properly and so the floor got soaked every time we showered. Another slightly odd thing was that we had a double bed but were supplied with 2 single duvets which were folded on top of the bed. Each day I made the bed and then the maid would come in the following morning and fold the duvets again and leave them back on top of the bed for me to make again. The room only had 3 sockets, one of which was on the skirting board and we could’ve done with one or 2 more. The free WiFi was very good. All in all this was a good place to stay, and we would stay there again if we return to Vienna in the future.

    We spent 5 nights in this lovely hotel, situated in a building that had lots of charm. We booked a Privilege Room. The room was large and spotlessly clean. It had good storage and, most importantly, a super-comfortable bed. The facilities in the hotel were excellent. The breakfast was first class and had everything that you could want - from fruit & breads, cooked & cold foods and great coffee & juices. All of the staff that we met were both friendly & professional and very responsive - for example, we had a small issue with the shower and it was sorted immediately, with absolutely no hassle. The area that the hotel is situated in is perfect, both for access to & from the airport and also for exploring the beautiful city of Vienna. The local train station (Wien Mitte - Landstrasse) is only 5 minutes walk away and is a hub for many metro lines. Locally, we ate in three restaurants, Bella Compagnia Erdbergstraße (see our separate Google review), The Golden Harp (a lovely Irish bar) and Trattoria Pergola . All were excellent and all were within easy walking range. We would highly recommend a stay at the Grand Hotel Biedermeier.

    Loved this hotel. Quiet little cobbled lane to access reception with hanging umbrellas and Easter decor. Efficient and friendly check in. The Beidermar decor in the hotel had an old fashioned charm in a good way, loved the uniqueness of the room- our room had a writing desk! Very clean and cosy. No noise, I slept so soundly. The bathroom was very well equipped, all the necessities and a great shower and a bath. Fridge in room, very handy, also mini kettle with tea, coffee and bottled water. lovely staff throughout the hotel. Excellent breakfast, something to please everyone including omelettes made to order and even sparkling wine at weekend breakfast, felt very indulgent! Aldi supermarket next door. Several nice restaurants in the locality. A safe residential area with lots of shops. 15 minutes walk to all main sights. A 20 minute subway journey to Schonnbrunn, very easy to use. I’d very happily stay here again, thank you to all the great hardworking staff
