A hotel (hostel) whose front desk deals with client complaints constantly

    rating03 May 2026

As most travelers depend on working WiFi, (as was promised on website as a free amenity) we were shocked that this service did not exist and I was forced to use cellular for my 6 day stay. The front desk refused to take action to ameliorate this problem, that many guests complained of. Despite the fact that we were promised in room air-conditioning regardless of season, there was no such service provided. I was told that in several weeks this service would be provided. The toilet was malfunctioned and despite our addressing this concern with front desk, no action was taken. The service and food choices/freshness in the breakfast room were deplorable. After a client had breakfast on white table clothed, it was reset without being changed!!! I am reporting to Rick Steves who recommended this place about my concerns and the concerns of multiple other guests. This place should be closed and restored to its former designation as a hostel, but I have been in many hostels that provided better services than this establishment. Shame on this place and their sloppy management with blatant disregard for clients needs.

Great location but everything else awful. The single room was very small and had no bedside table. The mattress topper kept sliding off and there was no wardrobe Boutique Hotel Nossek, Geschäftsführer at Boutique Hotel Nossek, responded to this review We regret your child's illness and would like to express our sympathy. At this point we would like to point out again the conditions of your booking; You have knowingly booked a small boutique hotel (not a large hotel chain) with a 14-day cancellation period, which means that no free changes or cancellations are possible within 14 days before arrival. If a journey is not possible due to illness, as in your case, your travel insurance will apply. We are committed to the well-being of our guests, which is why we especially recommend families with small children or elderly people to take out travel insurance and adapt the conditions of the hotel to their requirements to avoid such problems in advance. We find it strange that you make numerous threats in advance, insult us, shower us with bad reviews on various platforms and at the same time demand a goodwill solution from us. Why don't you dedicate your time to your child instead of unfairly blaming the hotel for your situation?Next time, please book a hotel whose conditions can meet your requirements or take out travel insurance. Finally, we wish you and your family all the best and a speedy recovery!

    Great location, great value

Great location for main sights. Lovely small b and b with plenty to choose from at breakfast. Lovely room though bath too deep to be able to get into easily. Staff friendly and they gave us an upgrade to a suite for mo particular reason. Great value for money and would definitely go back again.

Not the worst but For the price you can do better

As previous reviews have noted, this place is very centrally located in the inner ring of old Vienna right by St.Stephen's church. It's on a pedestrian mall, so you may have to lug your own bags a block or two, depending where your ride drops you off. It's a long block away to the underground metro stop (U Bahn) and a little over a mile to the bus stops, Hop On/Hop Off stations, and about half an hour with no traffic to the Vienna International Airport. NOT a great place for anyone with mobility issues. The hotel is a refurbished, historic building. Allegedly Mozart stayed here for a couple months. Staff don't seem to know anything about the building nor Viennese culture nor Austrian history. As far as being helpful, staff are not. Especially the men: they will not help with baggage and give the impression that it's enough to have a room. However, guests are NOT welcome to spend the day in their room nor in the tiny lounge areas. And good luck trying to get a cup of coffee or tea mid day. Yes, there is a small kettle in the room and an over priced mini bar....getting a cup of anything from the dining area will get you an angry manager (he said he was the manager.....never introduced himself and wasn't around the entire prior week we stayed here) declaiming loudly how he will charge for the outrage. So be it.Breakfast: the hours of availability are nice except, if you come toward the end of the allotted time, things are pretty much picked over. There is a selection of breads, jams, cheeses, cold cuts, and vegetables along with some kind of cold cereal, yoghurt, and fruit salad consisting mostly of apples. Orange juice and infused waters are available every morning along with an extensive selection of tea sachets. There are also two flavors of a coffee cake. All that is self serve. There is a minimal menu of eggs cooked to order; all for an extra up charge. The dining area is very small: people milling around to get their beverages and food you're going to get knocked into more than once. Let's hope it's not when you have a hot beverage in your hand.Asking staff for help to book reservations was a non starter. They kept pushing toward one one tour company and then were insistent that it wasn't their job to make reservations. Housekeeping ladies were lovely. They tried very hard to accommodate our needs. They also staff the dining room during breakfast and were very kind. The rooms are a nice size for two adults: roll away cots make the space too crowded and also may create an evacuation hazard as each room only has one door. Bathrooms are scrupulously cleaned every day but there is very little space for personal items and toiletries. The tube shower combination is not designed for anyone who is short, handicapped, unsteady on their feet, or can't lift their legs higher than 36 inches to get into and out of the tub-shower enclosure. The shower door is one of the new, modern, swinging, glass doors that do not catch water at all. No non-profit slip surface in the tub floor: no non slip mat outside the tub. Just glossy, ceramic tile.Club chairs are provided in a tiny seating configuration with a small table. Not the most comfortable but better than sitting on the bed. The bed has one of the hardest mattresses we have ever experienced. The pillows are very old and provide no support. The covering provided is a duvet plus there is a twin sized blanket in the armoire in the room.No clock; bring your own.No explanation how to work the television, especially how to get the subtitles to work. ( No, staff didn't know.)If you are coming from overseas, bring an electrical wall adapter for Europe--otherwise you won't be able to recharge anything.Available wall plugs have no tables nearby. We stacked our suitcases to provide a tall enough platform to hold our electric devices ( cameras, cell phones, tablets, etc.)Floors are parquet wood with no covering and very cold. Bring house slippers or non slip slipper socks.Temps got down into the 40s F at night. Turns out the building's heater was broken (according to staff). That would have been nice to know. Unfortunately, the AC worked too well with no way to regulate it.Entry into the facility is "safe". First, you have to find the doorway (it's between a retail store called Tod's and Yves St.Laurent. The unit numbered is not easily seen.) There are several locking doors after hours, so it would really take a lot of determined effort for a break in. Even during business hours you have to use a key for one of the outside doors. There is an elevator that reasonably accommodates 2 full sized adults with luggage (2 large suitcases each).
