Amazing hotel and would definitely come again

    rating02 Apr 2026

I went for a 2 day cricket tournament staying there for 3 nights and the location was amazing, the rooms were really nice and the breakfast buffet had a decent amount of choices. The staff when checking in were very helpful.I really enjoyed the stay and will hopefully come to stay next year Alexa Fuchs, Marketing at Ruby Lissi Hotel Vienna by IHG, responded to this review Hey DJ,Thanks a lot for sharing this. We’re delighted you had a smooth few days with us before and after your matches, and it’s great to hear the check-in team set the tone in the right way.Glad the room suited you and the breakfast gave you a good start. Our spot makes exploring easy — Ruby Lissi sits in Vienna’s first district, right in the historic core, so the main sights, plenty of offices and the evening buzz are all close by.It’s lovely to know you’re thinking about a return next year. We’d love to welcome you back for another relaxed stay in the city’s heart.Your Ruby Lissi Team

Do not stay at the Ruby Lissi

    rating03 Mar 2026

Awful. I have stayed in Vienna multiple times and this is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in. There was no view from the window because of a wall situated just one metre in front of it. No tea or coffee facilities in the room. A terrible hotel trying to be chic. Avoid. Alexa Fuchs, Marketing at Ruby Lissi Hotel Vienna by IHG, responded to this review Hey Miles,Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We’re sorry to hear your stay felt so disappointing, especially given your frequent visits to Vienna. That’s not the impression we aim to leave. Our approach is built around a Lean Luxury philosophy: fewer frills in the room, more focus on the essentials. Instead of kettles in every room, we provide a Galley on the second floor with complimentary tea and hot water, plus vending machines for everyday bits and pieces. The bathrooms follow an open layout to make the rooms feel more spacious and give a different kind of flow. We understand this style won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, and it sounds like it didn’t click with what you prefer.Your remark about the view is noted. We want each room to feel comfortable and well thought through, and we’re sorry this aspect didn’t meet expectations. If your plans bring you back to Vienna, we’d be glad to help match you with a room and setup that suits you better.Your Ruby Lissi Team

Great hotel in a great location

    rating15 Feb 2026

To start the self check in is a breeze. I don't understand the negative feedback about this. It took us less than 2 mins to have our room key. Do the pre-registration they email you in advance! The location is excellent, underground right outside and only 1 stop from the CAT station.Very central for everything, we walked everywhere and most things were within 20mins from the hotel. We got loft rooms and they were spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean. The galley is a great idea for topping up water, making a tea or coffee or grabbing a snack.Thr hotel itself is quirky wirh eccentric furniture and nice quiet spots to have a drink snd a chat. The lounge in particular was a nice space.Although the entrances to the hotel aren't traditional, who cares! The hotel is easy to get in and out of The staff were all very friendly and helpful.Unfortunately the hotel wasn't busy so lacked a little atmosphere but I'm sure it is just the time of year....the whole city was very quiet. We didn't have breakfast but it looked good.I highly recommend this hotel for a city break. We booked direct and got a good deal so overall it was great value. Alexa Fuchs, Marketing at Ruby Lissi Hotel Vienna by IHG, responded to this review Hey Neill,Thanks a lot for such generous feedback. It’s great to hear the self check-in felt smooth and quick, and that the pre-registration made the whole arrival effortless. That’s very much the pace we want for a city break. You’re right about the location. Being steps from the underground makes zipping around simple, and having the city’s sights within easy walking distance keeps things relaxed and spontaneous. We’re delighted the loft room hit the mark for space and comfort, and that everything felt spotlessly kept.Lovely to hear you made good use of the Galley for water, tea, coffee and snacks, and that the lounge gave you a calm corner for a drink and a chat. On the entrances, our main doorway is on Fleischmarkt, easy to spot with the glass frontage, and there’s also the Laurenzerberg entrance with a lift that takes you straight up to the bar level. Handy options depending on where you’re coming from. Thanks as well for the kind words about our hosts. A friendly, down-to-earth welcome is exactly the mood we aim for. Vienna can have quieter moments, so we’re glad the hotel still felt relaxed even without a big crowd. And we’re chuffed the breakfast spread looked tempting, even if you didn’t go for it this time.We really appreciate the recommendation and that booking direct worked out nicely for you. It would be a pleasure to look after you again at Ruby Lissi on your next Vienna trip.Your Ruby Lissi Team

    Would not return

    rating02 Jan 2026

We visited Ruby Lissi over New Year’s to experience the celebrations in Vienna. The hotel is very conveniently located and reasonably priced, that is the reason we booked. The check in experience was stressful, the self check in just doesn’t work, the lady at the reception desk was overwhelmed with guests who needed help. You don’t receive any instructions on breakfast, facilities etc so it is a guessing game. We had the ‘lovely’ room which was perfectly adequate, the bed was very comfortable. The open concept shower which is accessed via a door in the toilet was a little inconvenient but we managed. We were disappointed that there were no water, tea or coffee making facilities. It wasn’t until the end of our stay that we stumbled across the gallery on the 2nd floor where there is free tea and coffee - yet again nobody informed us of this. We were going to the bar and paying €4 per cup of tea. To be more sustainable the hotel offers a free drink per person instead of a daily room clean, which we opted for. No voucher was given to us so when we asked the bar it was a bit awkward, they did eventually allow us to claim our drinks but the process wasn’t easy. Breakfast was continental, they had plenty of choice and the food was tasty. The layout was a little tricky at times as the plates are in a busy corner with the pastries and toaster, making it hard to access, if this was moved it would make it easier. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful accept one at the front reception who checked us in, she was incredibly rude to me when I queried how we can cool the temperature of the room (as it was boiling hot and we were struggling to sleep), she was very passive aggressive with her responses, eventually she came to our room and showed us how to open the window but her demeanour made us feel very uncomfortable. Sadly the lack of communication in this hotel caused the majority of our issues. The thermostat in the room- locked with no instructions, the electric buttons for the lights, blinds and windows are slow and hard to work out, no information on breakfast times or where it is located, you don’t know where any facilities are. They just need to leave a booklet in the rooms with all of this information to help guests and save staff time. Overall our stay was okay, but based on the reasons above we wouldn’t return. Alexa Fuchs, Marketing at Ruby Lissi Hotel Vienna by IHG, responded to this review Hey Sunshine,Thanks for sharing such a detailed take on your New Year’s stay, and for calling out the handy location, fair pricing, comfy bed and the tasty, varied breakfast. It’s great to hear the celebration trip to Vienna brought you to Ruby Lissi. However, we hear you on the arrival flow. Our self check-in is set up to keep things simple and free our hosts to help more personally, though when many guests arrive at once it can feel a bit hectic. There’s always a human on hand, and we want that to feel easy rather than stressful. On room features, our Lean Luxury approach means we keep kit minimal and focus space where it matters. Instead of kettles in every room, there’s a Galley on the second floor with complimentary tea and hot water, and Maxi Bar vending on the first and second floors for snacks and essentials. We’re sorry you only discovered the Galley late in your stay and ended up paying at the bar. The open bathroom with the glass rain shower is designed to make the most of the footprint; some rooms also include a curtain for extra privacy. Your note about the shower access via the WC door is understood, and we appreciate how you adapted.Your comments on communication are heard. From thermostat guidance and the slow-touch controls to where breakfast lives and how the spaces connect, clear pointers make a big difference. For bearings: the main entrance is on Fleischmarkt through the glass door, and there’s also an entrance on Laurenzerberg with a lift straight up to the bar and lobby.Lastly, we’re disappointed to read you felt uncomfortable during your interaction at the desk about cooling the room, even though the window option was shown. Warm, down-to-earth service is what we stand for, and we value you sharing how that moment felt from your side.We hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to provide you with a better stay.Your Ruby Lissi Team

    A unique, somewhat quirky hotel

    rating01 Jan 2026

An underwhelming entrance which made us feel like we were entering a disused shopping mall. A frustrating check in experience. Unfortunately a staff member who checked us in could have been more welcoming and warm. We weren’t expecting cartwheels but a smile would have been nice. One of our rooms had a strong odour of cigarette smoke, but this was resolved. We were staying for 4 night and were offered a free drink in exchange of having our room cleaned. We liked the unique aesthetics of the interior of the hotel. There was some live jazz music which was pretty cool! We liked the central location of the hotel. Buffet breakfast was continental and somewhat limited. One point we noticed was that there is a raised stage like area by the buffet which could be a trip hazard, particularly for older guests. Rooms themselves were compact and clean, and suited our needs. The rooms themselves aren’t very soundproof as we could hear people on their phones next door and people snoring. Storage in the rooms themselves are a big problem with no clothing storage space. Lovely shower with good pressure and temperature. Being British we loved the separate duvets which avoided any arguing over getting an equal share of the duvet. Alexa Fuchs, Marketing at Ruby Lissi Hotel Vienna by IHG, responded to this review Hey Stephan,Thanks for laying out such a thoughtful review. We’re delighted you enjoyed the interior style, the live jazz vibe, the central spot, and those powerful showers. The separate duvets getting a thumbs-up from a fellow Brit made us smile. On arrivals, we hear you about the first impression and the check-in flow. There are two ways in: a signposted glass entrance on Fleischmarkt, or via Laurenzerberg where a lift takes you straight to the lobby and bar. Our self check-in is set up to keep things smooth and free our hosts for down-to-earth service, and there’s always a friendly human on hand to help. We try our best to make sure every guest gets a warm hello, so we’re sorry if the welcome you received felt a bit cool, and we’ve shared your feedback with the team. We’re also sorry that noise intruded on your stay. For a future visit, do request a room in a quieter part of the hotel for a more peaceful sleep. On room layout, our Lean Luxury philosophy makes the most of space with hooks and a bag rack rather than a full wardrobe, though you can absolutely book a room category with a wardrobe if you prefer more traditional storage. Thanks for calling out the breakfast. We keep it focused on quality over quantity, with things like superfood muesli, fruit, whole-grain breads, pastries, cheeses and meats. If you’re ever in the mood for a broader spread, our hosts are happy to point you to nearby cafés. Your note about the raised area by the buffet is appreciated; we understand how that could feel tricky, especially for those less steady on their feet.Good to hear the smoke issue got sorted quickly, and that the rooms felt clean and fit for purpose, even if the soundproofing didn’t fully meet your expectations. We appreciate you flagging the storage and acoustics so clearly. Thanks again for giving us such balanced feedback. We’d love the chance to welcome you back to Ruby Lissi for a stay that feels better aligned from hello to checkout.Your Ruby Lissi Team
