Hotel Urania was a lovely boutique hotel with personal service. Alexander was very helpful with making dinner reservations for us, providing us with useful tips about Vienna, and being kind to two Canadians who have never been to Vienna. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet location but is close to many attractions and close to the public transit. We would recommend staying here.

To start, the rooms are nothing like the pictures. We had a theme room and the room was smaller and it was not very warm. We spend 3 nights there. 1 single room and 1 theme room. The housekeeping service was not perfect, they left our window open all day and when we got there the room was freezing cold, they always gave us hand towels instead of the big bath ones. The breakfast was good. It’s not very near the centre but has good access to public transport, at least 2 tram stops, which was great.

Quirky, Unusual, The Shining

The hotel is dated but quirky and unusual. The breakfast is very limited. It’s referred to as a ‘Viennese Breakfast’ but quite frankly it was a selection of cold meats, boiled eggs and cornflakes. The room was ornate with the wallpaper and that’s where it ended. The room was filled with outdated furniture and fittings. The bathroom was clean and functional but needs updating. I did joke throughout that it gave me ‘The Shining’ Vibes when I opened my bedroom door, I was waiting to be greeted by the twin girls!All in all not a terrible hotel it served its purpose but the price was a little high in my opinion, and it was a little too far from the ‘hustle’ of Vienna but that was our fault for not considering its location more prior to booking.

Despite kitch decor it has all right ingredients:Good location (we especially liked the sandy beach by the river nearby)Clean quiet roomFantastic breakfast Good serviceLoved the cherry tree by the window.Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Review of Hotel Urania Vienna Austria mon 18.12.23:Beautiful hotel with themed rooms. The room was spacious and clean.We didn't have breakfast as we only spent 1 night.Close to a tram 0 and train stop.Daniella at reception is very helpful and friendly with tips for tourists.She guided us to some lovely Xmas markets during our stay.Belvedere tram stop O for a lovely Xmas Market.Stephansplatz train stop red line U1 is located in the old town with an Xmas Market and a lovely local atmosphere. We couldn't book a bus trip online as a tourist to Budapest. We had to book a train with OBB, which was double the price.The other train service option was cheaper but fully booked.The train stops are a little tricky to understand as a tourist.
