  Lovely Mother-Daughter Vacation

  We had a very nice time at this resort in May. All the basic necessities are there, the rooms are very clean and really not lacking of anything. A nice touch would be too have drinks provided in the fridge like beer and soft drinks. Especially because the other Viva resorts do this. Check-in needs to be fixed, however. There are far too many people arriving at the same time and this is of no fault of the resort. The airlines need to offer more flights so that flights are not all coming in on the same day which is entirely the problem. I cannot blame the resort at all for this like I said. However, it is chaotic. The beach is gorgeous, and the food was very good as well. No complaints. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating. I did find the people that work at reception weren’t the friendliest, but it is likely because they are swamped and overworked with the amount of people they are dealing with on a daily basis.While I have no complaints about this resort at all, I don’t think we would return, but I am glad we got to experience it. There was just nothing about Freeport that would draw me back again. I do think it’s a great spot to get away and relax for the week, but there’s really nothing much else on the island. I don’t always do excursions and we didn’t do one on this vacation, but there’s just nothing that sets this location apart from other places I’ve been.   Third stay and sadly our last

  This was our third time staying at this hotel. We truly enjoyed our first two visits, but this one will unfortunately be our last.On day one, we had to request a room change. While we love cats, the property is currently overrun with them—there was even a mother cat with seven kittens living on our balcony. As someone with allergies, I was swelling up within two hours of being in the room. On top of that, the room was in dire condition: the safe was broken and the toilet wouldn't flush. They did move us the following day, but the second room wasn't much better—the TV was broken, there was no remote, the toilet still didn't flush properly, and the balcony door was extremely hard to open. The rooms during our previous two stays were far superior.The food has also taken a major turn for the worse. During our previous visits, we always looked forward to the buffet, which featured themed nights like paella or sushi, plus great fried chicken and local delicacies like fried conch. Five days into this trip, the buffet has been identical every single day with none of those special items. We are not picky eaters, but this was really disappointing.Note to travelers: Visiting during the rainy season means mosquitoes—lots of them!
