    Pleasant Stay

    rating24 Apr 2026

Lovely little hotel, very authentic, which is great as a base, as within walking distance to the main square and other places of interest. The room which we stayed in was spacious, with a separate bedroom, bathroom and toilet, which overlooked the canal. I did feel however in the last couple of days of our stay, the housekeeping was not as I would expect.. The linen and towels were changed daily, however, Coffee, Tea and Milk were not replenished, so we had to go to reception to ask for these... A little dusting would have been appreciated in the room. !! The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.. Sofie Goossens, Directeur général at Hotel Martin's Relais, responded to this review Dear Amanda, Thank you for your detailed review. We’re very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay, especially the authentic character of the hotel, the spacious room, and our convenient location near the main square. It’s also great to know that our reception team made you feel welcome and were helpful throughout your visit. At the same time, we truly appreciate your constructive feedback regarding housekeeping. This is not the level of consistency we aim to provide, and your comments about replenishing amenities and room cleaning have been noted and will be addressed with our team to ensure improvements.Thank you again for sharing your experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide an even better stay next time.Team Martin's Relais Brugge

Charming hotel in a good location

    rating17 Jan 2026

Just like the rest of Bruges, this hotel oozes charm. It is in a convenient location, about a 10 minute walk from Market Square. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed and I had a canal view. The customer service from the front desk staff was great. I really enjoyed my stay here. The only negative thing was that the hotel was kept very warm. It has been explained to me that they keep it warm because Bruges can be very cold but when I was there it was 58 degrees. Sofie Goossens, Directeur général at Hotel Martin's Relais, responded to this review Dear Susan,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed and thoughtful review. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed the charm of our hotel, its convenient location within walking distance of Market Square, and your comfortable room with a canal view. It is especially rewarding to hear your kind words about our front desk team, as providing attentive and welcoming service is a priority for us.We also appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the temperature in the hotel. As you noted, our heating settings are often adjusted with colder weather in mind, particularly during the Bruges winter months. That said, we understand that comfort levels can vary, and your comments are valuable in helping us fine-tune our approach to better accommodate our guests’ preferences.Thank you once again for staying with us. We truly hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Bruges in the future.Team Martin's Relais Brugge

    A wholly horrible experience

    rating11 Dec 2025

We booked a suite at Hotel Martin's Relais, we did not arrive until 8PM, we were checked in, which seemed to be a chore for the staff, we then asked if there was a restaurant in the hotel, but it does not have one, a hotel with no restaurant seems a bit odd, so we found a nice little restaurant nearby, the food was superb.Anyway back to the room, we started to notice quite major faults in the room, which include the heating not working, the air conditioning which you could not control/alter, the shower/tap was hanging off of the wall, the towel rails were hanging off of the wall, the shower had very low water pressure, all of which was reported to the front desk on our first morning, we were told it would be attended to.On our return that evening, the heating was now working, but all other faults remained, we spoke to the staff on duty but were told that nothing could be done until the following day. There was a card on the table asking that you leave any recycling on the desk in the room and it would be collected when the room was serviced, the recycling was not collected for the whole time we were there, and the room was serviced only once on the 29th October, we stayed from the 28th October until the 1st November 2025.The room was in desperate need of renovation, the seating was extremely uncomfortable, there was no atmosphere in the hotel at all, the best time was breakfast due to the excellent staff, continental breakfast only though. This was meant to be a nice break away to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, which was ruined by the stay at Hotel Martin's Relais. We were asked to leave feedback, which I duly did, much as I have here, and have yet to receive any acknowledgement or reply, this was not a cheap stay, costing £983, but it was for a very special occassion.I have yet to receive a reply or any contact from the hotel following my complaints about the condition of the room and the facilities. To finish, the photographs that accompany the room description do not match the actual room in which we stayed.Avoid staying here, there are much, much nicer hotels available, with better facilities and rooms for less money, the Hotel Martin.s Relais does a great disservice to the beautiful city, and people, of Bruges. As yet we have had no offer of any refund of the costs to stay here. Sofie Goossens, General Manager at Hotel Martin's Relais, responded to this review Dear MichaeloK7876MH, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to read that your stay at Hotel Martin’s Relais did not meet your expectations, especially as you were celebrating such a special occasion as your 30th wedding anniversary. We fully understand how disappointing this must have been, and we sincerely regret that your experience fell short. The maintenance and comfort issues you describe are certainly not representative of the standards we aim to provide. As reflected in our generally very positive online reviews, we are known for offering a high level of service and guest satisfaction. We therefore regard your experience as an exception rather than a reflection of our usual performance. That said, we fully acknowledge that this does not lessen the impact your stay had on you. Your comments have been taken very seriously and have been reviewed internally. The issues raised have since been addressed, and additional checks have been implemented to prevent similar situations in the future. We regret that you did not receive a personal response earlier, as this is not the level of service we strive to offer. We appreciate your kind words regarding our breakfast team, who consistently work hard to ensure a pleasant start to our guests’ day.We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience directly and explore an appropriate resolution. Should you wish, please feel free to contact us at c.denolf@martinshotels.com Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for the disappointment caused, and thank you for bringing this to our attention.Kind regardsSofie & the Martin's Relais Team

    Fabulous hotel

    rating06 Dec 2025

This is a great spot. It’s just 10mins walk from the main square but is situated away from the crowds. An old and well kept building,All the staff and cleaners were lovely except one member of the reception team who just basically comes across abrupt and rude. I’m not actually sure he’s aware of it.It’s a premium priced hotel and while one person did not spoilt our stay you do expect to be treated more respectfully.Bruges was amazing, our first time. What a fun city with amazing people.Breakfast at €25 a head here - we suggest Tatties two mins down the road. Fab place for half the price they want to charge you here. Sofie Goossens, General Manager at Hotel Martin's Relais, responded to this review Dear MOrleySt,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about our location, historic building, and the friendliness of our team. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your first visit to Bruges and that the city left such a positive impression. We do, however, sincerely regret to read your comment regarding your interaction with a member of our reception team. This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, particularly in a hotel where personal and respectful service is a priority. Your feedback has been shared internally and will be addressed to ensure all guests feel welcome and valued at all times. We appreciate your understanding that this did not spoil your overall stay, and we thank you for bringing it to our attention so we can continue to improve.Regarding breakfast, we understand that guests have different preferences, and we appreciate your honest opinion. We are pleased that you enjoyed exploring local alternatives during your stay.Thank you once again for choosing Hotel Martin’s Relais. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Bruges in the future.Kind regards,Sofie & The entire Martin's Relais Team
