Disappointing stay — not suitable for mobility needs and poor value for money

    rating14 Apr 2026

I stayed at B Aparthotel Grand Place in August with my mother, who has reduced mobility, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing despite my initial confidence based on communication before arrival. On arrival, the building itself felt dated. The entrance includes steps, which can be very difficult if you are travelling with heavy luggage or mobility aids. This is something guests should be made more aware of before booking. The staircase and banisters also looked tired and in need of refurbishment, which gave a poor first impression.Inside the apartment, the furniture was not of an acceptable standard for the price paid. The sofa in particular was worn, bubbled, and felt unhygienic, with completely flat cushions that offered little comfort. These are relatively simple issues that could be improved with basic maintenance or replacements.Basic provisions were also lacking. Only two coffee pods were provided for the entire stay, and when I requested more, I was told they would cost €1 each. Considering the nightly rate, this felt unnecessarily stingy. Similarly, only two toilet rolls were provided, which ran out by the second day and required me to ask for more something that felt awkward and should not be necessary. The bathroom setup was particularly problematic. There was only a bathtub with a shower attachment, which was unsuitable for my mother due to her reduced mobility. I had mentioned her mobility needs in advance, so I would have expected a walk in shower option to be considered if available. Additionally, there was no hand soap provided, and one of the toiletry bottles was already half used. Finding used toiletries left behind gave an unhygienic impression and did not meet basic expectations.Although we were placed in a quieter room away from the street, the bedroom was located next to another guest’s bathroom. Each time water was used, loud pipe or boiler noises could be heard, which was very disruptive, especially at night.Another frustrating issue was luggage storage. Lockers are advertised, but they were extremely small and impractical for larger luggage or mobility equipment. We had a wheelchair with us, which could not be stored. The lockers also required guests to provide their own chain and padlock for security, which is unrealistic and should be provided by the property. While I understand that this property operates without an on site reception, the communication during the stay was slower than expected. Phone calls often involved long waits, and email responses were not always timely. In a self service model, efficient communication is essential. What made this even more disappointing was that I had mentioned before my stay that I was considering returning next year for the Flower Carpet event if the experience was positive. After raising my concerns, the only gesture offered was a very small discount which I later found was actually higher than publicly available rates online. This did not feel like meaningful customer care.Overall, the apartment did not match the standards promised online or the price charged. I regret booking here, particularly as I was travelling with my elderly mother, and I would not recommend this property to guests with mobility needs or those expecting good value for money. The location is good, but significant improvements are needed to meet reasonable guest expectations. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

    Good location!

I was a bit nervous about our trip staying here after reading the reviews and happy to say all was better than expected. The location is brilliant, near everything and quiet considering you are in the middle of it all. We had a 2 bedroom apartment, plenty of space, beds massive and comfortable. There is no reception, it's like staying at stand alone apartments but the contact with the hotel was good, as long as you keep on top it all, it's all good!

Way too many hotels in Brussels to deal with these guys.

This hotel asks for an additional fee on top of your booking fees to “hold” for ten days after your booking. They want you to email them your credit card information in email and if you refuse they want to charge you an ADDITIONAL $50 euros to wait upon arrival where there isn’t an employee on the grounds they say. You are supposed to enter through a code.. even if this in legit, I have stayed in MANY hotels and in MANY countries and have never seen such ridiculous requests from anyone.

    Absolutely horrendous - poor hygiene

    rating31 Oct 2023

I requested a refund as I was unable to stay here, as planned, between 4th September 2023- 7th September 2023. No refund has been received and the response from the hotel shows no regard for customers health and safety. I was offered a room but the room wasn’t clean. Furniture was stained, there was some kind of dried human excrement/ fluid on the toilet seat and there was a pubic hair in the bath tub. It was evident that the room wasn’t being cleaned thoroughly / to a high standard, in general, as there was dirt in the corners of the flooring, in the indents of the dining chairs, on top of cupboard doors in the kitchen, the water receptacle of the coffee maker was full of limescale and dusty on top, there were random hairs / bits of dust on the dining table and the console table had water marks on it still as it hadn't been wiped over. When I brought the state of the room to the attention of a staff member, she was polite and sent a cleaner up straight away who removed the pubic hair, wiped the mirror and then left. No alternative room offered. I ended up booking another hotel as it was very evident that the hygiene standards here were poor. I raised a complaint when I got back, fully expecting the company to see the pictures and be highly apologetic. However, they responded saying "the room was fully cleaned before your check in" - This statement particularly concerns me, when I look at the pictures, and reaffirms my concerns about my health and safety were valid.

    In compassionate staff! No communication!

Imagine prepaying for your hotel only to leave for the day and on your return you are denied access to your room for €4.24! You receive a letter stating urgent you must pay - you go down in the morning at 10 and no one is there - you leave for your day and come back at 16::03 and boom room key doesn’t work. There is not a single soul in the lobby as far as hotel staff to address your urgent notice. You call the number you had to use to get access as no email was sent and they tell you - you are denied entry for €4 euro actually €8 as your stay is for 2 nights! We came Sunday evening - no one was at the door - ok - had to make a call to get access ok. The frustration comes because you locked me out of my apart hotel when you yourself didn’t do your part. You lied and said we tried to call you then during the payment call you say we had no way to call you because I was still expressing my frustration! I am traveling with a senior and a disabled person so I go over the top to ensure everything is done that needs to be! It was never stated nor shared that I had additional payments and to be honest who is going to pay €281 a night and not pay €4.24? The deactivation of the room key was unjustified and had I not told you them my card to pay was inside the were denying access saying I had to pay. I clearly expressed that I had a disabled person who needed to access the bathroom and the focus of the person on the phone was the €4! How discussing!! B-aparthotels Group, General Manager at B-aparthotel Grand Place, responded to this review Dear, We are sorry to hear your stay didn't go as you expected. Because you have booked through a third partner who didn't include the local city tax of Brussels (which is 4.24 euro per night), this wasn't settled yet upon your arrival. Before your arrival, we have contacted you multiple times with the question to settle this, without any response. As we are working with a self-check-in system, which is clearly mentioned during the booking process, there is indeed not always someone at the reception of the hotel. Anyway, we are available 24/7 on the number mentioned in the confirmation letter you also received before your arrival. We anyway hope you enjoyed your stay in Brussels & hope to welcome you again.Kind regards, Team B-aparthotels
