A welcoming small hotel -super staff and breakfast and great value for money

    rating09 May 2026

The hotel, staff and breakfast were all great and better than we had expected for the price. We chose the hotel because of its location, just a few minutes walk from Bruxelles MIDI station. It’s a small hotel and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The room was nicely appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was great, especially the small ginger and vegetable shots. Unfortunately our room was at the front of the hotel which was very noisy with the trains just over the road.

    Great base for exploring

    rating26 Apr 2026

We stayed here for 3 nights. We were able to check in early and were offered a room upgrade which was good. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious. In terms of location, it is convenient to walk to the train station (2 mins) easy to get a train to Bruges, Ghent etc. it's about a 20 min walk to the main center or can get the tram. Unfortunately the hotel is located in a run down area (homeless people ) /local men lingering around which meant it felt unpleasant walking back in the evenings. Overall a pleasant stay and good base for exploring Belgium

    Great location

    rating23 Apr 2026

We chose the hotel because of its location close to the station (allowing us to easily take the Eurostar back to London and also catch a local train to Ghent or Bruges) and based on the previous good reviews. It's also only a short walk to both the Grand Place and the royal quarter so most of the main attractions in Brussels are within easy reach. On arrival to stay for 3 nights we were told that housekeeping is only available on request (using a card on the door handle) so for eco reasons we decided not to ask for it, however there was nowhere to dry towels apart from a single hook on the wall so we had to hang them wherever we could find which was really inconvenient. It was spotlessly clean throughout and the room appeared to have been refurbished fairly recently - no sign of damage at all. There was enough hanging and shelving in the open style wardrobe for our clothes. The sofa was nice for relaxing but it faced the wrong way for the TV so if we wanted to watch we had to lie on the bed. The room was very dark at night because there is no overhead light, instead there were just bedside lights which didn't throw any light into the room. One or two standard lamps would have made a big difference. The hotel and surrounding area were quiet at night so we slept well throughout our stay.In the bathroom the walk in shower was good although it did splash water on the floor because it was the walk in type. We found breakfast to be better than we expected, there was not much on display but it was constantly topped up so it was always fresh which was good. Coffee was from a machine but it was not bad at all.All of the staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome.I'd stay again if travelling to Brussels. If there had been better lighting and some towel rails I would have given 5*.

Good location, couple of minor isues

    rating20 Apr 2026

The hotel is in a good location just across from station so easy for us to catch train to Ghent or Bruges for the day. It's also only a 25 minute walk to Grand Place or the royal quarter so it's easy to reach most of the highlights of Brussels.A nice receptionist advised that housekeeping only when requested which was fine with us (we didn't bother) BUT if they're going to suggest this then they should give you somewhere to hang your towels to dry - we only had a single hook on the wall and no towel rails. We stayed 3 nights without housekeeping, beyond that we would have asked for fresh towels. It was spotlessly clean throughout and the room (75) looked very recently refurbished. The open wardrobe had enough hanging and flat shelving for clothes. There was a sofa in addition to the large bed which was nice touch. The room was bright in the day but dark at night because there is no ceiling light in the bedroom, just dim bedside lights, so I would suggest adding a floor standing lamp in one corner. In the bathroom the walk in shower worked well and there was a good supply of hot water.Breakfast was surprisingly good and everything was kept topped up although the hot items were not too appetising (they never are on the continent). The area was quiet at night and the bed was comfortable so we slept well throughout our stay.We didn't see much evidence of the homeless people or dubious characters which have been suggested in other reviews, it's just in a relatively poor area (like those often found near stations).I'd stay again if only for the location. The 4* review reflects the lack of towel rails and the dim lighting at night.
