Did read the reviews... did not believe them.

    rating23 May 2026

I rarely leave negative reviews, which is why this experience was particularly disappointing. I’ve been a loyal Bonvoy member for years (previously SPG) and this is genuinely my first negative review in over 14 years.I booked and specifically reserved a king room. Instead, I was placed in a queen room. I even had a screenshot at check-in showing that I had been assigned a queen room, and I raised the issue multiple times throughout my stay. Each time, I was essentially brushed off, only to be told at checkout: “Why didn’t you ask for a king?” I did — several times. That was the most frustrating part of this experience.Had I received the room I actually booked and had confirmation for, I likely would have given this hotel 5 stars. My issue is not that the property is older. I had already read comments mentioning dated rooms and thought I could overlook that. And to be fair — if you enjoy vintage furnishings, this hotel has all of its 1980s décor intact for you to appreciate, including aging carpet and plumbing. The age itself was not the problem. The restaurant staff deserve 5 stars. They were wonderful. Housekeeping also deserves 5 stars because they clearly work hard and do a great job with the tools and rooms they’ve been given. They maintained the rooms well despite the property itself feeling tired and overdue for updates. What made this stay so disappointing was spending several days in the wrong room despite repeatedly bringing it to staff attention, resulting in much of the stay being uncomfortable. Afterward, I stayed at a Hilton, and it was honestly a relief: the room was clean, updated, and — importantly — it was the room category I had actually reserved. The lowest point of this stay wasn’t the older rooms; it was repeatedly raising a legitimate issue and feeling dismissed rather than helped. I am going to explore other bonvoy properties next time. Wish I had done moxy, I do not like that they are not full service but room is more important to me than service level. Buyer beware and please review photos prior to your choice.

    Horrible

    rating02 May 2026

I booked this hotel for 2 people stating a club room with breakfast. I checked in with a not so desk agent and was informed that it has no club here for a long time so why advertise it’s a club room then she said only one person gets the breakfast the other has to pay 29 euros not what I signed up for. King room not club is cheaper and the sq foot is the same so why did I pay more and did not get what was advertised.

Loud party music from Place Luxembourg keeps you awake

    rating16 Apr 2026

i am writing this review after having zero sleep yesterday night because the VERY LOUD party music coming from Place Luxembourg at night keeps you awake. It is absolutely impossible to sleep. The hotel windows have double glazing but it has zero effect against the BOP BOP BOP TICK TICK TICK that reverberates through the area at night. My room was on the top (6th floor) of the hotel and I still got zero sleep. At 200+ Euro per night, I expect good sleep. Being kept awake by party music is absolutely not acceptable.I mentioned it to the staff at checkout, they could not care less. They basically shrugged their shoulders and said "bof". Clearly its normal for Place Luxembourg and normal for Renaissance.Never, ever again.

Major Issues During My Stay (February 2026)Extremely cold rooms and restaurant – guests were wearing jackets indoors; colder inside than outsideHeating issue not resolved over two nights. Temporary electric heater provided, but very loud and unsuitable for proper restCold temperature in the restaurant made dining unpleasant and unenjoyableBreakfast only until 9:30 a.m. – unusually early and inflexible for an international hotelNo alternative solutions offered for heating or breakfast hoursEarly check-out required, as staying longer was not reasonableSwitched to another hotel with no such issuesPositive note:Staff were very kind, polite, and professionalSpecial thanks to Konstantin, who handled my complaint seriously and did everything within his power.

    Billing and communication trouble

    rating22 Dec 2025

The hotel and stay was fine, but when I came home I found that they have charged more to my card than the booking price. For a long time I have tried to get in touch with them to get them to find out what has happened. Several phone calls and emails have been sent, but no response from the hotel (even used customer care through marriot.com). This is far below the service level expected from a 4-star hotel. I am very disappointed.
