Perfect Quiet Hotel Close to Sightseeing, and trains

    rating25 May 2026

Wonderful quiet hotel with the perfect location to all the beautiful sites within minutes, plus to the Central train station for out of town trips to Bruge, Ghent, Luxembourg, Paris etc. The bed was excellent and room very clean and quiet. On our taxi ride to airport even the local driver said we picked the perfect location for safety, quiet yet right by the restaurants, train and sightseeing.

    Disappointing

    rating24 May 2026

We stayed in this hotel for one week in May. We had booked and pre-paid Booking.Com for two rooms at a cost of €4200.In our opinion, this hotel is seriously overbooked in comparison to other four and five star hotels located in the same area.On first impressions of this hotel, the ground floor is pleasing to the eye — nice foyer, bar area and dining room. However, there are no security staff or hotel porters to assist you with your luggage. There is little CCTV around the hotel, especially along hotel corridors. On arrival to the hotel, we were not allocated the two rooms we had pre-booked and paid for. The description of the rooms given to us at the time of our booking was falsely advertised (stated as having an extra bed in each room and not a sofa bed). The Rooms we were given had neither an extra bed nor a sofa bed. The following day management moved us to two slightly larger rooms until they could resolve the matter (still no extra bed). They stated that this was an upgrade which we totally disagreed with. However, in the following days both the hotel and Booking.Com denied responsibility for the false advertising error and continued to blame each other. So much so that we were caught in the middle between them both and the matter was never, and is still not resolved. We found Management extremely disappointing, disrespectful and entitled. They lacked any desire or drive to sort the matter out and were always unavailable or “in meetings”. In our opinion, Management in this hotel equate to ‘three star level management’ and are completely unsuitable and under-qualified for what is expected from general management in a four star hotel - a standard that this hotel is over-reaching for! Personally, we found their reaction to us when informed of the falsely advertised rooms (which initially they accepted responsibility for and then reneged on) as being one of disinterest. This is quite concerning given that there was a scam going on to some extent. The bedrooms of this hotel are in serious need of refurbishment - we would grade them as being a three star! The beds are old and dilapidated, the pillows are musty and sweaty. The decor and carpets are old, worn and stained. There is nowhere to place your luggage such as a luggage rack.House-keeping was basic and seriously lacking in many areas upstairs. The bathrooms are quite modern apart from whole wall mirrors placed right beside the toilet, which young girls find very off-putting. Bath towels are small and thin. We have to say that the staff in this hotel (apart from Front of House Management and the General Manager) were all lovely, friendly and polite. In particular, the Dining-Room, Bar and Breakfast-Room staff went above and beyond to ensure guests were well looked after and catered for.Overall, we were extremely disappointed in the sub-standard state of the bedrooms allocated, everything felt dirty and musty! This resulted in us not enjoying our stay whatsoever and we would certainly not recommend it.

    Two Nights in Brussels

    rating18 May 2026

We had a really nice stay at The Dominican Hotel. It was easy to reach from the train station and we were relieved to find it was located on a quieter street near the Opera House. They were willing to check us in early and called a cab for us so we could catch a very early morning flight home. The room and bathroom were clean, quiet and comfortable. The waiters in the restaurant were excellent and so was the food. The receptionist gave us a great suggestion for a local restaurant for the second night. Hotel Manager, Owner at The Dominican, Brussels, responded to this review Dear Donna, We appreciate your thoughtful review. We are thrilled you had such a wonderful stay with us.It’s great to hear our central yet peaceful location near the Opera House made your arrival stress-free. We’re delighted our team could accommodate your early check-in and arrange your morning transport smoothly. Your kind words about the comfort, cleanliness, and quiet atmosphere of your room mean a lot to us. We’re also pleased the restaurant team left such a memorable impression with their service and dishes. The personalized recommendations from our receptionists are always crafted to help guests discover Brussels’ hidden gems.We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back. Many thanks again,Bert Vandewaetere, General Manager
