Good location with nice choice of restaurants nearby.

    rating22 Mar 2026

Simple, decor was a bit dated but nice clean Ibis with very helpful reception staff and good location. Rooms are on the small side and shower room even smaller but the price was good in March and you get what you pay for! Plus I booked a double room to myself. Didn't have breakfast here. It's 6 minutes walk from the main square with quite a few good restaurants very nearby for an easy evening after all day sightseeing and walking! Can recommend - La Boheme (delicious meal here), Komparto (a bit expensive but very tasty small dishes to share), Petit Thai, Luv l'Oeuf (breakfast/brunch), De Raadkamer (sadly closed when we were there but opened on the day we left, good reviews looked interesting).TIP - don't buy water in restaurants - 8.50 euros the cheapest we found, some charging 10 euros!! Large bottle in small shop almost opposite Ibis cost 2.5 euros. Also, this is NOT the Ibis in the central square. Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Ibis Gent Centrum Opera, responded to this review Dear Debbie,Many thanks for your valuable feedback. We are delighted you found our central location convenient for exploring the city and enjoyed the variety of nearby dining options. It’s wonderful to know our team’s efforts to maintain cleanliness and provide helpful service contributed positively to your stay.We sincerely regret that some aspects of your accommodation did not meet your expectations. Our rooms are designed to offer essential comfort within a compact layout, which we acknowledge may not suit every preference. While we continuously strive to enhance our facilities, guest feedback like yours remains invaluable in guiding these improvements. Finally, we’re glad our pricing aligned with your expectations during your March visit. Discovering local shops together with the ease of accessing Ghent’s landmarks made for a pleasant combination throughout your city adventures. We look forward to welcoming you again.Best wishes,

    Comfortable stay

Centrally located, close to tram stops for the railway station and just a short walk to main attractions.Friendly welcome and quick check in. Room was a little on the small size as was the bathroom but hey, that’s what we booked. Everything worked just fine and Wi-Fi connection was good. Room serviced daily with fresh towels.Lovely self serve breakfast buffet with all the usual stuff including gluten free and alternative milk for those who need it. The breakfast room does get busy but we never had to wait for a free table or for items to be replenished. Secure baggage storage. Would certainly stay here again. I enjoyed my one-night stay in this really well-located hotel in the city centre of Ghent. My room was spacious and comfortable enough for me as a solo traveler. For 17 euros extra, i had a good buffet breakfast this morning. The staff members including Delon at the hotel reception were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Everywhere in the hotel, it was clean and pleasant. I like this hotel in a really excellent location in Ghent. Great location but terrible tiny bathroom

    rating13 Apr 2025

The room while tiny is well laid out except for the bathroom. I had to sit slightly sideways to use the toilet and leave the bathroom to wipe my butt. I am being completely honest. As for the shower, the walls are made out of plates of glass that have large open seams in them so when you shower, the water sprays out of the shower onto the bathroom floor, which is flooded with a half an inch of water, which a bath mat could not soak up. What was most maddening was the shower head. It one that detaches from the wall and when in the holder, the shower head pointed to the far right and never hit me but did a great job of shooting out between the glass panels and onto the bathroom floor. I wouldn't stay here again despite the good location and comfy bed. The bathroom was TERRIBLE. Also laundry service was ridiculously expensive. To wash 3 pairs of pants 4 shirts and 5 undies would have cost me nearly 100 Euros.
