As you can see from the photo there is a swimming pool at the hotel the only outside one in Ghent I believe. There is a lovely terrace there and we do enjoy a drink on it. However, this time we were greeted by the Corona Beach! Sand had been put all over the terrace with deck chairs and other seating there with parasols and deckchairs around the pool everyone was having a great time the children and adults really enjoying it. We had arrived very early having only travelled a short distance so we had a drink and joined in the fun. This was in the heatwave so most welcome. We had a very warm welcome from the lovely Serda. We had a lovely room which was air conditioned but a fan installed to add additional cooling. This is a vey central hotel a short walk to the cathedral and the Friday market. A short walk the other way takes you to a lovely square where you can but their local mustard, chocolates and cuberdons. There is a tiny bar inside with much bigger outside seating called the t'galgehuis (hanging house!) take a walk then over the bridge where you will find the castle. By this you can see that this is a great hotel to base your holiday. We thought we were going to miss the wonderful Waal but he came back from his holidays before we left. All the staff are lovely and it if very clean. We love it. The rooms are outdated, shabby, noisy and had no working AC (it was 30 degrees). The room also has no lock or chain which made me feel unsafe as a solo traveller. I’m sure they get plenty of business due to location and will not change but I won’t be staying here again. The hotel is well located in the pedestrian city center and offers a private parking for your car. We arrived in the afternoon and the check-in was fast and friendly. Our room was directly available on the top floor. The room was big with a nice view of the city and very clean.
