Very Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend

    rating10 Oct 2025

Very Disappointing Stay – Would Not RecommendWe booked 2 rooms and had a very poor experience. The rooms were extremely dirty and poorly maintained. Even after raising complaints, the staff did not take any action to address the issues. One of the biggest letdowns was the behavior of Mr. Ismail at the property. His attitude was rude and unprofessional. Instead of resolving our concerns, he got angry and defensive, showing a complete lack of customer service skills. It felt as though he believed he owned the place, rather than being a representative of the Accor Group.Such behavior not only ruins the guest experience but also damages the reputation of the brand. I strongly urge the management to retrain staff, especially Mr. Ismail, on how to treat customers with respect and professionalism.I would not recommend this hotel to anyone based on our experience.

Confidential guest for all to see / locked onto floor - "great" in an emergency

    rating28 Aug 2025

I have been to this motel a number of times and normally the receptionists are super friendly. This time, however, the woman on reception was so totally unfriendly, spoke rapid French the entire time (I don't normally have a problem with that but I had been driving the whole day and was frankly too tired) and the fact that I was having trouble understanding her - and it was obvious - did not hinder the flow of rapid French one jot. Worse though, the keycard didn't work after I took my dog out for a walk. My dog is partially handicapped, so after a few unsuccessful tries at opening the door, I had to carry the dog back to reception and call for the receptionist, who never appeared. What I did notice, however, was that all the copies of the guests' ID cards and passports were on the desk for everyone to see or take. Not the part of the desk that was covered, but an open part of the desk. (See picture) After 5 minutes of shouting for the receptionist, I gave up and carried the dog back down the corridor and tried the keycard again - it worked this time. I had more than enough time to have taken all the passport and ID card info had I wanted to. If you demand such info for whatever reason, you can at least keep it confidential. I went back there 3.5 weeks later, because it was the middle point of a 2000-km journey. I ended up on the second floor of the hotel, which was absolutely boiling (my own fault for not asking for a ground-floor room when booking). The problem with the second floor is that I cannot use lifts as I have panic attacks in them (many people have that problem). The receptionist, who was very friendly, said that I could open the door from the stairs to the second floor using the key card, so I stuck my case in the lift and carried my dog upstairs. That was no problem - I opened the door as the receptionist said and collected my case from the lift. However, the next morning, I found that there is access only FROM the stairs and not TO the stairs using the keycard. The lock kept flashing red. To be honest, I was on the verge of going down the spiral staircase and setting off the alarm in the whole hotel. In the end, I went by lift for the first time in about 15 years and came out of it a wobbly shaking mess unable to drive for a bit until I had calmed down. I do not understand the logic of locking the doors to the stairs. In cases like mine, it causes severe distress and in an emergency, you have locked people in forcing them to run down the corridor to stairs much further away. This experience has put me off staying at your hotel again. I can always ask for a ground-floor room, but if I get there and there are none, then I am in the same situation as my second stay. And btw, the copies of the passports were in the same place – but at least there was a receptionist there this time. Never again!

    rating07 Nov 2024

I have made the booking via Weekenddesk and when we arrived to the hotel, it was overbooked! Instead of a little apology, receptionist was sending us away! Other hotels would at least ask if they can help etc! No professionalism, no kindness, never again!

Great place - need some signs how to get there when going south down the motorway.

    rating31 Aug 2023

Stay here 3 or 4 times a year overnight. Very nice personnel. Convenient when you're just passing through. The one thing I would find a great idea is better signposting. It is easy enough when you are heading north up the motorway, but not south. There is a tiny yellow sign (a bit smaller than a DL-size envelope hidden in a bush on a tiny road, but that is it. And you have to have gone quite a way to even find that. Hotel- cmanager, General Manager at ibis budget Aachen Raeren Grenze, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your review. We are delighted to hear that you find our hotel convenient and our personnel very nice. Your kind words are greatly appreciated and we are happy to know that you choose to stay with us multiple times a year.We understand your concern regarding the signposting when heading south on the motorway. We appreciate your feedback and will look into improving the visibility of our signs to make it easier for our guests to find the hotel. In the meantime, our GPS coordinates and access plan on our website can be helpful for easier navigation. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back. Best wishes,Degives Véronique, Manager
