This charming hotel is centrally situated close to the congress buildings and La Boverie park on the banks of the River Maas. The hotel enjoys convenient access to the public transport network with a public transport stop is located only 500 m away and a train station 2 km from the hotel. The centre (approximately 3 km away) can quickly be reached by making use of value-for-money public transport or by car. The city centre offers a diversity of interesting cultural and historical sights of interest as well as other various entertainment options. Brussels South Charleroi Airport is roughly 80 km away, whilst Brussels National Airport is about 90 km from the hotel.

Facility

6 suites, 54 single rooms and 159 double rooms are located on 10 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out.     Aggressive night receptionist

    Room was good and spacious no complains about the facility, but night receptionist Mr Sérgio Lacroix Pimenta was extremely rude and made some racist comments during check in. On top of that, when coming back to the room at night, got physically barricaded in aggressive manner (in literal sense) by same receptionist who forbid to take the elevator until he verified in his system our identifies (physically running to block the entry). I understand that people might be tired working at night and that Liege seems to be a dangerous city, but such level of aggressiveness I have never experienced in any hotel - as if he is handling criminals. My suggestion - make sure to check in earlier so that night staff is not welcoming you to the hotel and that you stay in your room in the evening so the receptionists do not have the opportunity to bully you.

    On arrival despite having proof off booking for 3 rooms they insisted I pay for 5 rooms,I was left to sort the problem with booking.com who confirmed the error was the hotel had generated another booking by mistake,no apology from the hotel just very rude reception staff.The rooms are very late being cleaned (often late afternoon) and some days missed altogether.Nice swimming pool however on the small side but it is not available to hotel guests while aquarobics class in place and the locals also do not like hotel guests using their hotel membership pool..overall this hotel does not feel like a 4 star! Avoid and save yourself alot of hassle for an over priced stay,nicer stay at the 3 star ibis.....

    Unbelievable horrible service, very rude staff. The rooms airconditioning didn’t work and it was 25 degrees centigrade in the room. Mechanic service of the hotel also couldn’t fix it. No money back, no other room available. Again I haven’t had an experience so bad with staff of an hotel in many many years.At the restaurant took 30 minutes before any body came at our table. Took it by myself to get a menu and then the waitress got mad. Photos show a nicer picture than it was. Worst hotel in Luik. I thought van der Valk stood for quality but never again. Don’t spend your money here. Looking for legal options to get my money back.     4 star standard room. Unfortunately the reception leaves something to be desired. An invoice could not be issued because the clerk could not print it. It was not his fault... but whose? The breakfast packages were mixed up and incomplete. Excellent breakfast, but if you want to eat something in the evening it is a problem. For some simple croquettes you wait 30 minutes and receive a frozen cheese wrapped in egg.. The waiter shrugs his shoulders...

    Disappointing Treatment of Guests

    My daughter and her friend, both minors, stayed at this hotel in preparation for an important exam at the Congress Palace the following day. Unfortunately, their experience was far from satisfactory.At breakfast, the employee in charge spoke to them in a disrespectful and impolite manner, claiming that breakfast was not paid for. This was despite confirmation during check-in the night before that breakfast was included in the price. The staff's rude approach towards minors is simply unacceptable.After I'd raised the issue with the reception, the mistake was acknowledged, and the breakfast cost was reimbursed. However, it is deeply troubling that such treatment was even considered appropriate. Attempting to exploit minors or assuming they won't voice their concerns is unprofessional and disappointing.I hope the management reflects on this incident and ensures all guests, regardless of their age, are treated with the respect they deserve!
