    Good location but awful customer service

    Standard Novotel, clean room, tiny bathroom and tired, too soft, mattress.Extremely poor service (I sent various emails prior to our stay and received no anser to any of them). Specifically requested a room far from the lifts upon booking and in e-mailing in advance and were originally allocated a room facing the lifts. Thanks God we were able to change and get a much quieter room but this obviously show how much they care (or not) about guests.We arrived at 13.15 and were asked an extra 35 euros for early check-in (c/i time is at 15.00). No way ! I can understand they charge extra €€€ if you arrive in the early morning, but not at 13.15 !). Final invoice was wrong and they tried to charge 20 euros more, so better be careful and take time to check every detail. Obviously money matters more than customers satisfaction.Excellent location. Can be noisy but OK with windows closed.Mixed feelings overall but, with such a poor professional attitude, I will not come back or recommend this hotel, despite being a long time Accor member.

    Absolutely shocking currently at 6.30 pm we are unable to buy drinks from the bar as the reception have closed the bar and are refusing service to residents. In all the years of travelling never ever have we been treated so shockingly. The evening receptionist has said no I'm on my own and run the bar as well .

    Great hotel, nothing to complain about really. I’ve spent there 1 night only from 31.01 to 01.02 during my weekend trip to Mechelen. It was a very enjoyable stay. Staff at the reception was very welcoming. Room was spacious and clean. There was one minor issue: a kettle was not working. After reporting an issue kettle was quickly replaced with a functioning one. Breakfast was delicious, too. I will definitely stay at Novotel Mechelen again. Keep doing great job, guys!     Good afternoon,This is regarding my horrible experience at Novotel Mechelen Centrum,Belgium on 25 July When I reached the hotel at 9 in the morning,the staff at the reception told me that your room is not available and it will not be available till 12 in the noon so you can leave your luggage here and go out and come laterI went out with 2 heavy bags and came back after half an hour The lobby area was super cold and filled with people who were extremely loud.I sat on the sofa from 0930 till 12 At 1150,I noticed that your staff gave room to someone else who came after me.At 12,I went to the reception and asked a lady if my room was available and she said what which room It apperaed to me that she had no idea that I was right there since 0930 and she did not care to follow up on the availability of room for me.She without communicating to me went inside a room and called Shanzay,the front office manager and also the most obnoxiously rude person in the hotel,I wonder who appointed her as the front office managerWhen I asked the first guy I spoke to for his name,he refused me on my face.He told me I will not tell you When I asked Shanzay for his name,she told me first you tell me your name wow wow wow Then she went on telling me I will not give you his name.I asked if as a customer I was supposed to know the name of the hotel staff She told me her name and spelled it at such a warp speed with rolling eyes and making stupid faces at me.Shanzay asked me for my passport and then almost slammed my passport at the desk and said go you will not get a room before 3 p.m.Then Shanzay went and called another lady and while that lady was talking to me,Shanzay kept a stupid grin on her face,like this was a joke When I asked for breakfast at 9,I was told you are not allowed to have breakfast I was not offered changing room to freshen up I was not offered a luggage room And your staff has the balls to tell me to calm down Your staff has zero manners,they are highly unprofessional They think they can make me sit there on the sofa till 3 and make fun of me,that is some sort of achievement for them This has been the most horrible experience I have ever had at a hotel I will definitely be sharing my reviews on every single platform that is out there Never see you again guys Yahoo Mail: Search, organise, conquer Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Novotel Mechelen Centrum, responded to this review Dear Ms. BhandariWe are sorry to hear that you had an un pleasant stay with us due to check-in procedure.     Clean and comfortable rooms. The front desk staff is excellent and they also offer a nice breakfast buffet. The location is on a side street, but the hotel is walkable to most attractions and restaurants. Easy affordable stay, that I highly recommend.
