  If I may be blunt, this is a very bad hotel. You, as a guest maybe 90 years old, or a handicapped, or pregnant, or have any other issues that prevent you to climb the stair. I say this because the elevator is not functioning and the repair might last for weeks. OK, such problems may occur, but guests should be given prior notice when they book. Hotel Cathedral remained silent about this.It may happen that you want to go to your room, but the key would not open the door. You walk down two stairs, and the receptionist will presume that you did something wrong and gives you new keys. So you walk up, but the door remains closed. Now, you walk down again, and the receptionist will still not trust your words and walks up with you. There, before the door, he would realize that indeed the lock needs to be fixed. There is plenty of time, so you agree, and ask the receptionist to have the lock fixed, which he would obviously promise. So you come back several hours later, but you still cannot open your door. You will be given another room - and I must add at this point that the young female receptionist being on duty was kind and helpful. In the other room, the shower is poorly working. Time has come to check out and forget. Oh, no, do not forget: Despite the kindness of the receptionists, I can only recommend staying as far from Hotel Cathedral as possible.

  Not a hotel that makes you feel good. Nothing to love, expensive for its worth. The rooms are noisy the early morning cos of the public cars which clean the square. Avoid the "Italian" restaurant of the same square. It´s awful.

  The location is central and the breakfast was good. Our rooms (2) were dated. The rooms and corridor did not smell fresh. The swirling pattern of all carpets echoed the 1980's. Despite requesting quiet rooms, we needed to move three times before being able to get a reasonable night's sleep. I would not recommend this hotel.

  Excellent Tournai Hotel

  Lovely hotel near the Cathedral Notre Dame in the centre of Tournai, spacious twin room for my brother and I, they allowed us secure parking for our 2 motorcycles.Nice lounge and facilities, clean room and friendly staff.Easy walking distance around the city sights and Scheldt River. Definitely would stay here again.

  Very good location near the cathedral, but this hotel is far from the normal standards. The room had a smell of insect repellant. The heating (electric) did not work, so there were two additional (oil based) electric heating devices, one for the bathroom and one for the bedroom. Too cold when we arrived, too hot at night as we had put these heatings too high. We woke up at 5 in the morning, not because our alarm went on, but one of the neighbouring rooms. It sounded like it was in our room. Breakfast is a joke. 15 euro a person for a lot of choices but quality is below any standard. Avoid this hotel. It is unfortunate, but best alternative is to stay over the border in France (Tourcoing, Roubaix, Lille, Villeneuve d'Ascq) where there is a lot of choice at good quality and good price. We also stayed at d'Alcantara in Tournai, and this was a big disappointment as well, given the price. A pitty for this nice city.
