Excellent hotel and little oasis in a relatively undeveloped and sometimes rundown beachside strip. The hotel is super clean and has minimalist style.The rooms were great, well tended with comfy beds and plenty of sockets big shower and a good tv. The staff were amazing, attentive and friendly. Special thanks to Junior and Mabelle on reception who were fantastic.They also helped with a medical issue we had without fault.In addition the bar,restaurant and poolside staff worked hard to please every request.The hotel bar and restaurant prices were reasonable and good value .Breakfast varied and Brazilian.The amazing Pria do Futuro beach is steps away over the road with plenty of activities and beachside bars and restaurants during the day. (warning they closed with sunset around 1800 at the time we were there).Warning in that the sea is quite rough, great for all the windy water activities. The temperatures were a constant 30degrees when we were there but a consistant and established Fortaleza breeze kept it pleasurable.The main tourist area of Meireles is a 20minute taxi ride away (around BRL20)and offers more restaurant options and great night market. Take a 30min taxi to nearby Beach Park waterpark for a great day out. Not cheap at around BRL280 but a well organised, clean and Disney-esque adventure. Fortaleza is a wonderful and varied place and I would recommend the Hotel Gran Mareiro without a doubt for a holiday, base or trip to this part of amazing Brazil.

This is a very good hotel! It has a great breakfast buffet, a great swimming pool, a great view of the beach, very nice beds, and a very peaceful location. The negative things I would say are very minor but they did make a difference for me. First, the staff were polite but not friendly. The hostesses at the breakfast buffet each morning were disappointing because they were the first staff I would see each day but they would never greet me and sometimes they would just coldly look me off. I stayed in a suite for 10 days, and these ladies knew it from their register, so for spending that much money I kind of expected a minimum amount of polite and respectful behavior. Second, the location is very peaceful but it is also a little far from other things so that might turn some people off. However, this is easily remedied by spending 3 to 4 bucks for an Uber. Third, I have been in windy locations but all night long the wind would whistle very loudly in my room. I feel like with a little TLC then the windows could be re-sealed or altered somewhat and this whistling issue would be completely resolved. If you are a light sleeper then this whistling wind issue might make it difficult to sleep. In summary, I really feel like this could be an excellent hotel if they would ask their staff to be friendly rather than just not rude.

I had a great stay here while staying in Fortaleza, the room was very comfy with a sea view. Bar and restaurant serve great food and drinks. They do charge your bar and food orders to your room to pay at checkout, which I thought was very useful. The pool is also amazing, great temperature and chest deep. Perfect area to chill around the pool and very close to popular beaches.
