Holiday Inn is one of the best places to stay when in Fortaleza. The hotel is conveniently located opposite to the beach.The rooms are spacious with ample storage area.The hotel has just one restaurant but there are numerous options available on the street.

A reason to love Fortaleza!

This hotel deserves to be on another level. It gives Crown Plaza vibes, while retaining the price and auspiciousness of a standard IHG brand. Lorena is the stand employees of the century! To experience her charm, professionalism and warmth would be the singular reason to return to Fortaleza!

Modern 273 room hotel overlooking Iracema Beach.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights, arriving before 3PM by taxi(60 Br) from FOR Airport. The Portuguese speaking receptionist copied our passports, took our payment, then presented our key cards with a hotel information sheet in English. We took one of the 4 elevators to the 14th floor.Room #1410 was spacious & clean with a wood floor, 2 comfortable doubles, large closet, shelf desk with chair, large TV(Bloomberg, CNN, Fuel, Home style, Motorvision, Go USA, all in English) with many Portuguese channels. Good AC, lighting, wifi, several outlets and window wall view of the wide beach. Sink area with hotpot/mini bar outside fully outfitted bathroom and spacious tile shower with nice towels.The lobby's 6AM breakfast buffet was very good & well attended with OJ, fresh fruits, ham, cheese, sliced tomatoes, eggs(custom tapioca station), breads, muesli, several hot Portuguese dishes, cakes, thermos of coffee and hot milk and 2 coffee machines. I used the nice 10 station gym but not the 2nd floor pool. We walked 7 blocks NW to Super Mercadinhos São Luiz. Overall, a high quality hotel with friendly staff across the popular beach promenade.

5 star despite the small plates

My only complaint is that the breakfast buffet plates are too small. They are probably trying to send the guests a message: "don't eat too much". Otherwise my stay was fantastic. Nice clean hotel. Friendly attentive staff. I had a couple of minor issues and each time, they sent someone immediately to address those issues. The hotel is in the nicest part of Fortaleza, right in front of the nicest beach area. Completely safe, day or night. There are lots of police presence. A ton of outdoor restaurants and street vendors. Fish market, where you can eat fresh fish, is a 2 minute taxi ride. People walking, jogging, bicycling, roller skating, swimming in the beach, etc. The carnival passed right in front of the hotel a couple of nights ago. I was charged 125 dollars a night earlier, but after the carnival, the price went down to 90 USD per night. Be very careful before you decide to venture out to other areas though. This is not a safe city. By the way, be sure to have some Acai. It hits the spot on a hot day.

Great location but not worth the price

This hotel has a lot of potential, but the service was disappointing. The location is excellent—situated between the main beaches and within walking distance of nightlife. My ocean-view room was spacious with a stunning beach view. However, housekeeping repeatedly failed to refill the soap and shower gel. I also had an issue with the minibar—I simply moved the items to the side to use the fridge and was then charged for everything, despite them being right next to it. Explaining this to reception turned into a frustrating battle.The restaurant area felt overcrowded, with long waits for tables and an especially slow-moving line at the tapioca station every day. The chef was also very strict and had no flexibility on orders which was strange. The pool was in a shaded area, making it unappealing to use. Security was another hassle, unnecessarily redirecting Ubers away from the entrance even when there was no traffic waiting. Despite being owned by an English company, the staff had very limited English skills and made little effort to assist foreign guests. As an IHG member, I usually find late check-outs and perks on offer; however, these are not available here. Overall, the service fell well below the usual IHG standards, making the high price feel unjustified.
