    Only the location gives it 3 stars. Otherwise 2 stars. Our initial room smelled terrible so they moved us to another room. That room was not as nice.

    This hotel is average. The rooms are dated and in need of painting.The bed was comfortable.The bathroom was OK, reasonable shower and with good toiletries. There was a fridge in the room, also a safeThe breakfast was OK with a medium selection of fresh foods.The biggest advantage of this hotel is its closeness to Copa Cabana Beach.

    Not the best start as there was no real welcome at reception. The young woman barely looked at us, no smile or polite conversation just carried on chatting to her two male colleagues in Portuguese, as if we weren't there. Fortunately all the other staff we encountered were quite friendly and helpful. The best word to describe the hotel is 'functional'. It doesnt have much character or atmosphere as its a very narrow building so no space for public areas beyond the breakfast room and no outside space.. The bedrooms are quite spacious and well equipped. Huge, comfortable beds Breakfast is adequate, more sweet than savoury, more cold than hot even the eggs!The best thing is the location with Copacabana and Ipanema beaches just minutes away with all the character and atmosphere you could wish for. If you're on a budget there's a great local restaurant around the corner, just turn right. It's called Galetas Copa Rico and you can get 3 courses for £5 before 4pm. Good food and full of local people which is all the recommendation you need.

    We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour of Brazil and Argentina. Hotel is a great location for Copacabana beach. The reception staff were extremely helpful and managed to sort out an amazing last minute trip to sugar loaf mountain after our tour provider didn’t pick us up. Amazing staff.
