    Not brand new, but okay

    A hotel that is no longer quite brand-new, situated on the second row back from the beach in Leme, not far from Copacabana. This location offers the advantage of being slightly quieter than a beachfront property.The rooms appear to have been renovated not too long ago—though not in the newer Novotel style—giving everything a somewhat simpler feel. Nevertheless, my room was clean and adequately furnished; the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well—once I tweaked the settings a bit—without blasting air directly onto the bed. I appreciated the layout of the elevators, which were distributed across two sides of the floor rather than being clustered in a single spot; typically, only the elevators located right by the reception desk were busy.The breakfast was decent and plentiful, though the atmosphere was quite hectic, and I have certainly had better breakfasts elsewhere in Brazil. The small pool and the rooftop bar are a particular highlight of the hotel.

    When we arrived at the hotel, I was really surprised it had such high ratings. Check in took over 20 minutes, still not sure why. Room was adequate but nothing like what I was expecting from other reviews. Towels are old and pillow cases are clean but stained. No kettle or coffee facility in room. There was a lot available for breakfast but only really if you wanted chocolate cake for breakfast. Very very very limited choices for vegetarians with even the ‘pumpkin broth’ having meat in it - but not labelled as such. We’re used to limited choices travelling but this was particularly disappointing. The bar service was slow and inconsistent - sometimes drinks we ordered didn’t turn up. Music far too loud for decent conversation with friends. Nice view though if you can get a seat to view it. Hotel was averagely average overall and definitely not what I expected from a Novotel or from the reviews.

    Came for our last day in Rio! Sat and had the most amazing view and our waiter Raul was so helpful. Spoke great English and was very polite and friendly. Definitely recommend! Thank you Raul!     The worst hotel ever!

    Absolutely the worst hotel experience ever! I am someone who travels frequently all around the world and have stayed in many different hotels of all classes and cities. For several meetings, there are colleagues staying in the same hotel, and we are all so dissatisfied with no-service of this hotel. Every person had some issue with electricity, leakages of the toilet, airconditioners, and noise problem, and every single colleague had to change their rooms. We did too because after one unsatisfactory night, the air con broke down making a huge banging noise continuously!! The reception is so used to complaints that they are never surprised to hear from us. We moved to the top floor of the hotel where we hear the motor of the elevators 24/7 with trembles. Aside from that, there is a separate elevator to the rooftop next to our door, so it makes an alarming sound every time it stops on the floor. The slow elevators are so slow that we have to calculate that in our schedule. Sometimes had to wait for 5 minutes. We don’t expect 5-star hotel quality from Novotel but even the basic needs cannot be met in this hotel - we slept very badly and feel restless as a result. The walls are also thin.
