  Double booked our room and poor breakfast - no wifi in the room

  Our room was fully booked when we arrived, so we had to pay more to get another room. The breakfast was not as it is in the pictures. It was only bread, cheese, ham, a sweet cake, juice and coffee. The wifi did not work in the room, only in the lobby even when it was suppose to work in the room too. It is very noisy from the hallway, the other rooms and from outside. We were 3 people in one room but only got 1 key. The positive thing is that it is fairly close to the copacabana beach. The AC in the room did either not work, was not able to be turned off or not working properly.

  Not as advertised. I booked this going by the pictures and the proximity to the beach in Copacabana, only to find out that it is years older & more run down than it looked. There was a huge hill to climb up to get to the place and tons of stairs to get inside and up to my room. I think this info should be emphasised when booking, to ensure guests are capable of climbing all the stairs that are involved. Their only saving grace is that the staff are terrific & assisted me with my suitcase up all the stairs, so only 3 stars for the Hostel, but 5 stars for the staff!!!

  I have been there during one week for the new year 2017.It's a nice place, safe as a police car is always down on the street.5 minutes walking away from the Copacabana beach and small markets around.The staff is very nice and helpful.About the room, it's cosy, comfortable, clean but a bit noisy.Price correct.I passed a very nice stay there.Thank's a lot to all the crew!

  Very nice place to get to know Rio de Janeiro. The staff are very welcoming and helpful.The facilities are very excellent including bed,breakfast, wifi, air conditioning, kitchen,free airport transfer, balcony to dry your clothes, Leme and Copacabana beach on your doorstep, even a mineral water shower outside if you want which comes out of a mountain water collecting pipe outside the hostel. Plus nearby you have all the supermarket supplies and buses to take you anywhere in rio. Make sure to take a padlock with you so you can lock your essential belongings away safely. Buy a "rio card" from the metro station in town as every third bus journey you take it gives you for free and multiple people can use one rio card as I so pleasently found out when even the bus driver did not know. Its great to stay with other backpackers from other parts of the world and use all your language skills. You will learn portuguese over one night in this place and then use it in the pharmacy the next day trying to get mosquito repellent in portuguese. The pharmacist will be very impressed with your portuguese while you hunt for repellent with 25 -50% (por cento) DEET after being savaged by mosquitos on your first night. Best to get hold of the best 50% DEET from your pharmacy in London before you go as it is not available in Brazil or even at Heathrow airport boots pharmacy which is plain insensado since there is mosquitos carrying zika and dengue virus in south america. Sleep might be tricky for some especially with the mosquitos buzzing in your ear but who comes to sleep in Rio de Janeiro anyway. I had a wonderful time. Improvement would be to promote the island hopping services they provide which I totally missed. The hotelier signorita is studying hospitality in switzerland university. They are already wonderful without the hospitality studying.

  Nice hostel, amazing people!

  I felt right at home being welcomed by Mikaela and Ana the owner. They were both amazing, helping me plan my way around Rio and always up for a good laugh! JJ was also cool, he speaks English btw :D It is clean and all amenities are available, breakfast is served at an early hour for a minimal extra cost. Location is great! If I get back to Rio one day, this is where I will be staying!
