Old hotel and in a kind of danger neighborhood

    rating07 Dec 2016

Staff from restaurant were very nice, but the ones from reception not friendly at all, I felt that i was doing a favor for them staying in their hotel. The building is quite old and the rooms seems very old fashioned

    We were disappointed.

    rating06 Mar 2015

We were disappointed for a lot of reasons. We wanted an inexpensive hotel closer to the airport than we had on our first stay. We were taken in by reports that the traffic to the airport could be very busy. This hotel was closer to the airport, but that was it’s only main advantage. The taxi driver couldn’t find it because it is way off any mainstream areas. It is clean, has a small roof top pool and a 3-machine gym area. The Jacuzzi was empty and we were already too hot to try the small sauna (more like a hot cupboard). You get a double bed, an en-suite toilet and shower, a table set up for a meal, a fridge and a microwave. If there was a supermarket in the area that was open we may have taken advantage of it, but all the shops were closed in the evening. We were only staying one night and leaving early in the morning. The hotel booked us a taxi, but we paid over the going rate as it was unmetered. The television channels didn’t match the ones that they advertised in their room. The toilet area was fine until we saw the sign that said don’t put any toilet paper down the loo. There was a small shower spray beside the loo that functioned as a bidet and was okay once you got the hang of it. The restaurant was closed and we had to use room service, which was adequate. The staff were extremely helpful and although there is a 24 hour staff in attendance it consisted of the night porter / receptionist asleep on the lounge chairs until someone came downstairs. We took a stroll around the local area, which was pretty shut after 6.30 at night and also not very inviting to walk around in daylight never mind in the dark. We found a bar and a pharmacy open (definitely no supermarkets). If this hotel was in a more central area then it would be fine. In hindsight, we should have booked into the Lynx Airport Hotel and paid a bit more for it. At approx £85 per night it was over priced especially as we didn’t have the breakfast. It is relatively close to the airport but be aware that since it is in another city the taxi companies will charge you more.

    Superb !

    rating04 Jan 2015

Best, cleanest and most friendly place i have stayed at in my life. Staff were friendly and rooms were cleaned every day. The food was out of this world and i would recommend it to anyone. Anyone going to Rio would be stupid not to book in here !

    It's an "ok" stay.

    rating27 Aug 2014

The hotel seemed to be difficult to find, even for the locals. We had a Portuguese driver and an English speaking tour guide, who between the both of them got a little lost, looking for the hotel. After a10 hr flight and roughly 1.5 hrs of looking for the hotel, we were told that there is no reservation for us (8 ppl). There were many calls back-n-forth between our booking agent, ourselves, and the hotel. After 3 hrs of madness and frustration (because no one at that hotel seems to speak even a tiny bit of English ), it was finally discovered that the accounts department of Mont Blanc did not inform the Front Desk of our already paid for reservations. The best that management did was offer one free night's stay next time we are in Rio - not staying there again. In my opinion, they should have given us one of our already two night's for free.Besides the horrible experience on check in, it's an "ok" stay. The hotel seems to be in the business district, so it is extremely far from all the "pretty tourist" places. It took us almost 2 hrs drive by taxi to get to the base of Chris the Redeemer...... But it definitely is not too far from the airport. There are sufficient eateries around the hotel, and the train station is right down the road.We would have taken the train to Christ the Redeemer, but we did not have the local currency, and this hotel does not exchange money..........and all the exchange places around the hotel were closed on Sunday. We bargained with a taxi driver to take us to the airport (to exchange money), and then we'll pay him from there. If you just looking for a place to lay your head, have a shower and eat, this hotel will do.. If you looking for more luxury, I'd say find somewhere else.I'm not sure about the wifi, but if I remember correctly, they do have that.

    Friendly hotel close to Airport

    rating05 Jul 2014

We arrived late in the evening after a long flight The staff were very friendly and welcoming and spoke enough English for us to understand despite our total lack of Portuguese. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. As a stopover it was a good place to stay - 15 mins drive from the airport with a good, secure car park.
