Good time at the Ritz and in Leblon

    rating03 Nov 2025

We had a very nice stay; the staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel and room were nice and the location excellent. It was great to be able to walk to the beach and enjoy the excellent restaurants and bars that are also walking distance. We were met by nothing but the kindness and good spirits of everyone we met and would recommend the Hotel and the area to anyone travelling to Rio for the first time.

    Stay away from this hotel

    rating08 Mar 2025

Please stay away from this hotel. I normally do not write reviews, but for this hotel I had to make the time. First of all, the first thing that happened was that poor handwriting by the receptionist led me to the wrong room number, which my hotel card actually managed to open. I was in that hotel room when another guest was checking into the same hotel room. Apparently their hotel cards work on all rooms and not just your designated room, which is incredible poor for safety. Secondly, the rooms and hotel in general needs a refurbishment, it is in a very bad state compared to what I would expect from a "four-star" hotel. Thirdly, one of the two elevators broke down myt second day. Fourthly, I order room service several times and waited for hours without receiving my food. When calling back, my orders were not taken at all. The staff ignore any feedback and are unpleasant. Also, the have the regular air conditioners with the fan located just outside the hotel room, making a lot of noise. Last but not least, I got a room towards the main street which was full of traffic noise and music from bars. Please for your own sake, stay away from this place. It is overly priced and horrible.

    Horrible evening in Ritz Leblon

    rating11 Dec 2024

I had the worst and most horrible experience of my life at this hotel. When I first entered the room I was given, I saw that there was already a couple staying in the room. We went to the reception together, they apologized and gave me another room. and then the nightmare began. I was robbed by the hotel staff. 2 employees at the reception and another hotel employee whose job I don't know entered my room. They jumped from the upper balcony to my room's balcony, I immediately opened the door and ran away, I went to the reception and there was no one, then someone came, I told him there was someone in my room to help. I reluctantly came with me. While we were waiting in front of the door, we both heard voices coming from inside, my belongings being rummaged through in a hurry. I told him to open my room door. He didn't open it. I said I'll check the next room, maybe there's someone there, and left. Then I said whatever happens, let it happen, and opened my own door with my card. They ran away quickly, but I saw them. The receptionists in white shirts and dark colored trousers. I threw myself out into the street in fear before I could put on my clothes. I went into the pharmacy right next to the hotel and asked for help. The owner of the pharmacy tried to help. He called the police but they said they couldn't come (it wasn't a surprise because according to my friends living in Brazil, the police work with these guys).A security guard who saw me on the street came to the hotel with me. The well-dressed manager or business owner-looking person who was constantly walking around there ordered something to the hotel staff. Then they said, please don't make a big deal out of it, these are your belongings, and returned my money, wallet, passport and phone (I had thrown them onto the balcony of the next room when I sensed someone was about to enter the room).

We stayed 4 nights here and enjoyed our stay. Positives:-Excellent location-We felt safe-Staff were friendly-We we’re in room 901 with balcony view of Christ and the city (balcony was awesome)-Our room was clean-We didn’t really deal with noise as others reported. Sure, I could hear noise if I stood near the sliding door but I was able to sleep fine and am a light sleeper-Bed and pillows were comfy-Room was spacious -Breakfast had a lot of optionsDownsides:-We felt like there could be more value. We paid in the $300s/night which felt high for what we got. -I wish the rooms had nicer amenities for the price. Normally I don’t care about the amenities but we don’t usually spend this much on a hotel and so I wish there were slippers, robe, nicer toiletries and an iron in the room.

    Expensive, loud and unclean

    rating24 Oct 2024

Summary:- extremely loud- not clean- extremely high prices —> if you expect that it will be worth it - it won’t- could not check in on time Noise:Unfortunately the loudest hotel I have ever been to. The walls are extremely thin - my neighbour had a cold and was sneezing and coughing the whole night and it feels like he is sneezing right next to you. Some of the air conditioning units are not mounted properly (each room has their own outdoor unit) and are extremely loud and vibrate. The first night my bed was vibrating because of the neighbour’a air conditioning. I could not find any sleep so I was given another room that unfortunately had the same problem (and it was a downgrade). I changed rooms 4 times in a 8 night stay) in a desperate attempt to find any sleep. In the end I upgraded to the suite and was ripped off - ended up paying more per night than I would have if I had just booked the suite in the first place.Cleanilyness:To give an example of the overall state of cleanliness I add two pics of the blankets of the rooms that i found when I moved in. After informing the reception, they didn’t even change them the next day. The overall cleanliness level is not great - also compared to other Rio hotels.General room set-up:Rooms facing the street are very loud. It is not just the street noise but also the aircon that stands on the wooden floor of the balcony without any insulation underneath. The looks of the rooms are nice, if you don’t look closely. In one room the curtains were too slim to actually close fully, in my current room the windows facing the street don’t even close properly. View is not great as there are high buildings right next the hotel.
