  very noisy, you hear conversations or TV from neighboring rooms, very old air conditioner that makes a lot of noise, the water in the shower takes a long time to get hot, wifi is very weak, I was overcharged for mineral water in the fridgesound insulationdisappointed

  Hotel is in a side street in Catete, five minute footwalk from Metro Catete and Largo do Machado, also five minutes to Flamengo beach with view on the sugarload. The Santos Dumont Airport you reach in 10 minutes with Uber/Taxi. The hotel room is large and very clean, but not the newest. Towels and sheets are changed daily. It is like return to the eighties. My room had a sauna, that I did not check and a jacuzzi that I do not need. TV was working same as AC.Breakfast was very nice, compared to other brazilian hotels in the same price range. There was Pao de queijo, bread, minas cheeze, ham, cheese, scrambles eggs and always fruits and fresh juicesFor me I got everything I need for a affordable price.to work and relax in Rio de Janeiro.

  Few tweaks to be done

  We stayed at this hotel for 14days and it was ok. Few things for you to be aware of:1. We booked it because on the website and in here the location says "10mins from copacabana". We haven't been to rio so we quickly checked the map and we thought it was ok.. it wasn't. The hotel is closed to Largo do Machado metro stop and it is 10mins from copacabana.. via metro. So it was a bit of a pain getting the metro to go to copacabana. You can walk there, there are road signs of Walk in rio but it takes you FORTY MINUTES 2. It says there's a gym.. it wasn't available (not that you want to spend everyday in it)3. Staff was very friendly and more than helpful.. yet English is very limited (apart from one guy who was able to understand)4. We had a sauna and a big bath tub.. none was working. 5. There are only lifts to take you upstairs so if you're claustrophobic that might be a proper nightmare 6. As a first time in Rio I must admit it was OK to stay there, if you're happy with basic 7. Breakfast: pictures on the hotel web show amazing buffet. Well, coffee is available and so are juices and fruits.. but you get bored of them after 5 days 8. A/c in the room.. but very loud and noisy. If you're a light sleeper like me, you won't get much of sleepIn a nutshell. If you plan to go to Rio and look for a cheap accommodation, that's the one. It is on the side street, not very quiet but not too noisy at the same time. I'd say bearable. Room was cleaned every morning and it was spotless. Staff very friendly and try to make you welcome... even though my Portuguese and their English were limited. Close metro station: Largo do Machado not catete. Close beach: flamengo but as we discovered the water is dirty so if you want just to sunbathe is ok, not many people around.. Don't walk after sunset though on that beach, it is a bit "uncomfortable".. not dangerous but you need to be wary of your surroundings. Needless to say, we had a great time :) It is just the wrong info on the page that should change. At least you know where you're staying.

  Be carefull as they try to rip you off

  I want to warn you guys what happened to me. I booked a double with double bed room for a week there. First when i checked in the receptionist told me i wasnt allowed to bring my carioca friend upstairs. So i let him wait downstairs. They bellboy took me up and gave me a twinroom. I said this isnt what i booked for. He checked my reservation and changed my room.Then after some days first they locked my room as they said i had to pay in advance. Very strange they asked me after 3 nights. They had my creditcard info. Then they said i took whiskey from the minibar. Which i didnt take. And at the checkout they wanted to charge me for bringing up my friend. I really got angry and i never took someone there as they told me the rules. They probably think they can ask some extra money by a single traveller. I told them its really rude and they should show me on security cam i took someone there. Anyways they apologied for the mistake etc but still i find it unacceptable. So be aware of these tricks. The room itself was ok. Quiet neighboorhood.   I've been to hotel Rondonia palace for three days after Christmas. I was looking for an accommodation which would make the discovery of the city easy. This hotel proved to be suitable: the position is good, as there are two metro stops at 5 minutes walking (Catete and Largo do Machado - the latter is also where it's possible to get on vans to corçovado to see the famous Christ's monument), and it's located at a few minutes from praia do flamengo, in a calm area. The room was nice, though the ac was quite old it worked properly. The bathroom itself looked old fashioned like the rest, but was bigger than average and comfortable. The room was okay, though on the second day the towels were not replaced. Breakfast was included and was okay, with typical Brazilian food and juices. We also used the room service for one dinner, and it was satisfying, with only fifteen minutes to get our food from the restaurant. The hotel was clean and the personnel kind and available, I would recommend it.
