Average hotel. If you need the wifi for your work, avoid it. It does not work

    rating07 Oct 2025

The hotel is quite old and needs renovation, but that's ok, if you book here you know and accept that. What is not acceptable is that nowadays the wifi of the hotel is non existing......meaning it is there but it doesn't work! In the room (second floor this time) it did work only during central hours of the day; no way to make it work early morning or evening. At the ground floor (reception) it works but it's so slow that to download 20Mb of emails it takes half an hour. Really annoying! You have to understand that for foreigners the wifi service is vital, no matter if the guests are tourists or business like. Do something, please!

Excellent location, good value for money

    rating23 Nov 2023

It is a very good hotel, the location is fabulous. I was taken aback by many negative reviews, so book 1 night initially, but the extended my stay. The location is excellent, right on the beach. My room was spacious (according to European standards), and there was a balcony, which was a big plus. There were some minor negatives, and yest it is an old hotel, so some deco is old-fashioned. But everything worked for me, I especially appreciated the air-con, the mini-fridge and the safe. I also enjoyed the possibility of spending several hours at the pool after the check-out while waiting to go the the airport.

    Perfect spot

    rating21 Dec 2019

This was my third stay in Rio within 18 months. I chose to stay in Barra (pronounced as Ba-Ha) to be closer to my friends who live there. Royalty Barra is on walking distance. To start with the negative review: The breakfast is really I mean really NOT good. Only warm potatoes and the worst sausages you can imagine, as a hot dish. Eggs etc on request and not included. The buffet is split in two sides of the hall which makes you move back and forth from one side to the other, crossing all the tables filled with eating people. The gym and pool are not spectacular. The good part of my review: The location is just perfect. I got an upgrade to a room at the sea side with balcony. The street in front of the ocean is completely quiet at night. So I slept with the doors open only hearing the waves. Barra is super nice and crowded at night with young people having a drink or eating out. I went to .org bistro two times. Not because I am a hardcore vegan but because it is simply a VERY good restaurant and the best alternative to all the burger bars.

    Rock in rio

    rating06 Oct 2019

I had a very pleasant stay here. They organised my trip to the festival without hick up and collected us on time and smoothly. Room was adequate with a lovely view but the shower was over powerful. Staff very helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast was hit and miss and as we were in Brazil the coffee was at a low standard.

Hotel very well locates. Amenities amazing. Swimming pool and area around perfect!!!! But the breakfast is so poor and the service even worse! The manager must to do something about that! The whole hotel works perfectly. Everything there is great the location is amazing! But this service needs a big attention!
