This hotel commands an enviable position in an oasis, surrounded by lush, tropical vegetation. It is the only hotel in the town which features a location right by the sandy beach. To one side of the hotel is the turquoise blue of the Atlantic, on the other side rise the green-covered mountains.

Guests have a choice of 18 junior suites, 52 suites, 424 single rooms and 135 double rooms located in a 26-storey main building and a 4-storey auxiliary building. English-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wonderful Resort

This is such a lovely base to explore Rio from (although it is a bit of a distance south). The hotel is in a beautiful part of Rio, in its own cove with a semi private beach. It’s easy to walk to Ipanema as well, which we liked far more than Copacabana. This is the place for you if you want a luxurious, private, and more upscale experience. Many pools, a great spa, tennis courts, and multiple restaurants. Our room had a wonderful view of the beach, along with a balcony. Everything was clean, and not too noisy (though music is regularly playing at waking hours). Definitely worth the price. Not to mention the fantastic staff at the lounge. We were fully taken care of by the awesome team. Very comprehensive breakfast and dinner options as well. We were truly torn between spending our days relaxing by the pool (and dipping into the ocean) or heading into the city. We will definitely be back!

Sleep with the sound of the surf

We enjoyed our stay and would return. There are a few things we wish we had known before we went so that we could plan around them. First of all, it's important to get an ocean front room. These are the quietest where you can hear the surf day and night. This is the only hotel in the south zone that is on the beach. Rooms on the west side can be noisy on the weekends from music in the favela nearby. Because the road leading to the hotel is often congested, all lanes run towards Ipanema in the morning, and toward the west during evening rush hour. That means many tour operators will not pick you up and drop you off at the hotel, and it can take awhile to get an Uber. The hotel has a list of tour operators who pick up and drop off at the hotel. And you just need to plan extra time to get to and from your other reservations.The second disadvantage is that the hotel is relatively isolated. If you want to go out to dinner, you have to take the hotel shuttle to Lablon, eat at the hotel, or take an Uber. It makes it a bit more difficult to be spontaneous.That said, the sound of the surf during the night makes the extra logistics worth it!The conceirges went out of their way to help me plan the trip. They were always very helpful and professional! The entire staff was very friendly and helpful.The rooms aren't as unscale as other Sheraton five star hotels, but it is clean and fairly well kept.I would have liked some more options for breakfast. The esspresso was automatic machine and not necessarily Brazillian coffee. The main protein options (scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, and sausage) were either too salty or unappealing. However, there were many forms of pastry, bread, pao de queijo.We enjoyed our stay and would return.

The Sheraton is the best - visit Hermes in the lounge!

I travel to Brazil for work often and this is my favorite hotel in the world! Hermes and Jessica always take amazing care of us in the executive lounge. Stefferson in the lobby is super helpful, and Thaina at the executive level check in was so helpful and kind. I really look forward to catching up with the staff and enjoying the pool, beach, spa, and lounge at the Sheraton. Hermes makes it an incredible experience every time! I will stay here every time I'm in Rio :)

I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Rio! Jessica and Hermes provided excellent service. Hermes is top notch and ensured we had an enjoyable time during our entire week’s stay!
