Friendly staff saves the 4 stars – Hits and misses at the Radisson Oscar Freire

We recently stayed at the Radisson Oscar Freire. In the end, we are rating it a tight 4 stars instead of the 3 it would have otherwise deserved, mostly thanks to the very friendly team on site. Here is our detailed review…What we liked (Pros): The Lobby: The first impression was excellent. The lobby is designed very modernly, feels highly inviting, and has an extremely pleasant scent. The Staff: A huge compliment to the entire team! Everyone was exceptionally friendly, warm, and attentive. This great service significantly upgraded our stay and made the difference for the higher rating.Where there is room for improvement (Cons): The Room & Renovation: We were offered an "upgrade" to a renovated room. Unfortunately, the workmanship here was very sloppy and poorly finished. Since other rooms on our floor were apparently still being renovated, the chemical paint smell in the hallway and in our room was extremely strong and unpleasant. Overall Impression: The elevator and large parts of the hotel simply look outdated. The modern polish promised by the lobby is definitely still missing here. Breakfast: Very average. It is okay, but it doesn't stand out in any way and offers few highlights for a hotel in this price range.Conclusion:The hotel is in a great location and the staff is absolutely outstanding. Once the renovation work is neatly (!) completed and the rooms match the standard of the lobby, we would gladly return. Currently, it unfortunately still feels a bit like a construction site.
