    Cosy, clean, comfortable

    rating21 Feb 2026

I stayed here with family & friends for skiing in nearby Borovets. Staff were very friendly & helpful and it was a very peaceful quiet area. Our cabin was basic, but clean & cosy. There was an endless supply of piping hot water, plenty of towels provided and all linens changed half way through the week. Kitchen utensils are very sparse- I will bring stackable camping pans & some bowls next time. Snacks + 1 or 2 pasta dinners are manageable but not comfortable for self catering every meal.We had 1 or 2 breakfasts and evening meals in the restaurant but for variety also ate in the village. The non-skier in our group used the fitness centre & sauna during the day and could walk to Borovets for apres ski. There are plenty of taxi drivers around Borovets for evenings in the village, but I found the fare is a bit too expensive to use them every day (€10 each journey in Feb 2026). The teens in my group would have liked stronger wifi.

    Pleasantly surprised great family holiday

Although not a posh hotel it had a cosy vibe and was absolutely fine for a week on the slopes. Restaurant was good , staff were friendly , gym great , transfers worked well to slopes - all good , a little dated but great

    Horrible, disgusting and unpleasant receptionist

    rating17 Feb 2026

A shocking place, a rude receptionist, speaks disparagingly without a shred of humanity, smelly and old cabins, service at the lowest possible level. Rude and cold-hearted people. I suffered every moment I spent in the two days I stayed there. The roads outside the cabins are full of ice, our car slid off the road outside the cabin. We had to call a tow truck to help us because the clerk did not help us and told us to deal with it on our own, so we had to pay 100 euros for a tow truck. After we asked and explained the situation to the clerk, she laughed in our face and threw us out of the reception. I wholeheartedly recommend running away from this place and not going anywhere near it. What is shown in the pictures is not close to reality.

Last minute trip for a few days

    rating12 Feb 2026

From the UK was visiting my wife’s family in Sofia. Kids have recently been on a ski holiday with school so after much pestering we agreed to take them to Borovets. We booked Malina lodge having read the reviews were a little sceptical. But I adored it. The most beautiful setting. If you want a 5 star hotel don’t come. If you want warm lodge in the woods with no noise and friendly staff please do it. So close to the resort and the girl at reception was really lovely. Hot shower and WiFi was fine. Will definitely come back.

Pet friendly, good basic offer with a risk of noisy neighbors

    rating14 Aug 2025

Stayed for 4 nights. Very dog friendly! The cabin is equipped with basic stuff. Beds and pillows not great quality ( not a problem per se but this deviates from the advertising of the place as high quality offer).Location is good and can be very relaxing. Some issues with the maintenance of the property are visible - some spots in the cabin have spider webs and dust. The bench on the pouch was wobbly and the wooden steps were broken. There is no room service - but bin bags and fresh towels were provided outside of the door for self service. The kitchenette only had few cups and three small plates with no cooking pots available. No tea bags / just three coffee capsules.Between the cabins there are designated areas for camp fires/BBQs that are popular with the guests. During our stay a noisy group used one of the open spaces close to our cabin and played loud music well past midnight. The management of the place was alerted of the issue but were not able to take action ( the answer was « what can we do? ») so the noise continued until 2 am.Overall - enjoyed the place for the location and the dog friendly space it offers. Disappointed with the noisy neighbors and their music and lack of action from the management of the place. The place is used by families and offers small pool and a trampoline for the kids ( this was used heavily by energetic kids )The restaurant offers typical Bulgarian food, the service is friendly but quite slow.
