9/10 only let down by food quality.

    rating19 Sept 2026

This is the third time we have stayed at the HVD Club Bar, twice in 2025 and again this September. The hotel was as always clean and rooms comfortable, minibar stocked each day. The staff mainly Indonesian (I think) were absolutely lovely, attentive but not hovering, the Bulgarian waitresses could have smiled as much! That having been said all the staff were very good at their jobs. The pool area was always cleaned first thing in the morning and throughout the day. Sunbeds were always available, not sure about high season as we always go early or late season.Drinks were always available (24/7) as were snacks throughout the day. The animation team, all 2 of them kept us amused from 10 in the morning until late evening, apparently in high season there were 5 team members. I even played volleyball, badly, for the first time in over 40 years, both knees skinned on diving, silly me!Our only adverse comment is that the food standard has definitely dropped this year, not as varied or as good quality. Having spoken to the management and at reception, the chef is the same one both years, so has his budget been reduced? The food was rarely hot, mainly hardly warm, made it is at the right temperature when it leaves the kitchen, but front of house let him down? I would still recommend the hotel as it is central and is quite possibly the best all round value. Just let down this time by the food.

OK hotel, not the right location for us.

    rating18 Sept 2026

We have just returned from a week at club bor.The hotel is good, our 1st night we arrived early hours so no snack bars are open but a sandwich and fruit were left in the room. I was suprised to see a door to a joining room?? As usually sold as a family room. I thought nothing of it till 2.30am when 3 or 4 men came in from the night out next door. Turned on their light which lit up our room?? I could hear every word like they were standing in our room. They went out and I fell asleep till they returned at 4am!By this till I was tired and pretty peed off. I put our TV on to drown them out and so they realised we could hear them.. They carried on shouting and I knew we had to move rooms as this would spoil our holiday. Next morning I went to reception and asked to change rooms explaining why, she did say see how it is tonight! Not a chance, within a hour we had been moved. Quiet room and our balcony had a bloody massive tree in front of it so no view or sun but it was quiet. The rooms are clean and comfy beds. Lovely powerful shower too. Mini bar refilled every day with wine, beer, juice and water. Food was OK, standard buffet with lots of choice, plenty of salads and fruit.Drinks are good, I wasn't keen on any of the wines but beer and spirits were good. The wine in the mini bar is better than what they serve at the main bar.The beach is a couple of mins walk to free sun loungers and umbrellas.Sunny beach itself isn't my cup of tea, if Blackpool is your thing you will love it. Fun fair, shops with same stuff in for miles! My fault for not researching properly before booking. We went to Nessabar every day via boat for €10 each train for €8 and bus €1.60It's beautiful, cobbled streets lots of old buildings and culture. Beautiful harbour and restaurants. We ate there everyday and had some lovely meals. Definitely worth a visit. I found our last couple of days 15th 16th September bars and shops were packing up for the winter and vanished over night, we went to a lovely bar in sunny beach, went to go the next day and they were closed for winter. People have mentioned about the staff in the hotel not liking the English, we never found this. The staff were lovely and work extremely hard. I would return to Bulgaria just not sunny beach.

Clean, great selection of food, suitable for everyone, great location.

We stayed as a family (teenage son). We had a late arrival and were greeted with a glass of sparkling fizz which was lovely. They had also left sandwiches and fruit in the room. They also offer to take your luggage up to the room. The room was a really nice big size with a walk in shower. 3 charging points. Very clean room with complimentary toiletries. The rooms also have an insect door which is brilliant for me as I always get bitten by mosquito's.Location was central to the busy nightlife of flower street and also a 5 minute walk to the beach through a back hotel path. We didn't use the beach as it was too busy in this peak season. There are sun loungers on the beach for the hotel but I'm guessing you have to go early to get one. The beach is a beautiful soft sand one. The loungers closer to the sea are for the public.Food was nice, it wasn't your typical themed food. Plenty of meat, often cooked fresh or brought out hot (busy period of time, I can't comment on the less busy slower turnover period). If you are vegetarian there's less of a hot food selection as it's just pizza or pasta, but there's plenty of cold vegetarian options. Food is labelled but guests mix the spoons up, so beware if you have allergies. There's the biggest dessert selection I've ever seen. The ice cream trolley is really nice. Drinks are good. Soft drinks are on tap but have flavour. Cocktails are hand made and not watered down. There are lots of sun loungers, some loungers are in the shade as well for those that have to be careful in the sun. There's music playing all day, and they do the club bor song (fun for the kids to dance to) 3 times a day which can be loud but doesn't last long. Pools are not overcrowded and there is a lifeguard on duty when it's busy.We did a few excursions, Sozopol, Nessebar, a Bulgarian village and a Trabant experience. Our holiday was a mixture of relaxation and exploring some of the country. The hotel is called club bor because the word 'bor' means pine trees, and there are lots of them around! Easy access for pushchairs and elderly walker frames, plus the party evening nightlife is so close, so I would say it's a hotel for everyone.

    Our honest review

    rating26 Aug 2026

Having read the reviews before our holiday i have to say i was a little unsure. But having recently returned i can honestly say it was a fabulous hotel, the food is the usual all inclusive food with plently of choice and a big salad bar etc. As for the life guard he was doing his job, plates should not be allowed round the sunbeds due to health and safety, surely you can spare a few minutes to eat at the snack bar !! The pool area was always clean and at no point did we have a problem changing our towels. The bar staff and waiters were friendly and we are English so i did not feel there was a divide in nationalities. The rooms were modern and clean and the mini bar was stocked daily. Sunny Beach is lively and you know what to expect, the beach has it's own reserved sunbeds. We would definately return to this hotel again.

    Wonderful hotel in every way.

Perfect in every way. The staff were amazing and so happy and polite all the time. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Food was so good and the snack bar would provide a wide range of snacks too. Amazing cocktails made … day and night. We miss this hotel already.
