Horrible experience with a terrorizing hostal cleaning "lady" though out the stay

    rating11 Jul 2025

Had a really bad experience! The Hostel itself if fine, centrally located, big rooms with air-conditioning.But I had a staff member staying in the same 4 bed female room, and she was not suitable at all sharing room with others, terrorizing the rest of us. At my 3th day she was walking behind me an just yelling. I made a complaint about her to the reception. No change! My last night this person got up 1:30 in the night, started watching videos loudly waking us all up. When the lady above me addressed her about that, she went completely crazy and was yelling for half an hour. In the morning we 3 other woman went down to the reception to make our complaint together. There were plenty of other issues with her though out the hole week. I left home, one other person left the place even though she had paid for more night. To my understanding the hostel owner did nothing. I personally didn't get any "help" in this horrible situation: no new room, no apology, no arrangements for this staff member, no refund!

    Comfort and Kindness

My stay at Hostel Musala in Varna was excellent! The beds were large, comfortable, and very cozy — perfect for real rest after a long day. I was especially impressed by the receptionist’s kind and welcoming attitude; she was always ready to help with a smile and useful advice. The atmosphere in the hostel was calm and cozy, which made my stay even more enjoyable.

Good stay, but reservation was changed upon arrival to lesser room.

I stayed at Hostel Musala for 5 nights during a longer stay in Bulgaria. My stay got off to a rough start. I had booked the exclusive apartment with kitchenette on the 5th floor, but when i arrived i was told the 5th floor was closed due to construction above. I was given a room on the 4th floor with no kitchette, but everything else. I was given a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. The room i did get was very nice. The balcony, which i was looking forward to, was covered in pigeon poo and filthy. The other facilities, common showers, laundry and kitchette were good. The only reason i gave 3 stars instead of lower, was the fact that my stay in general was great other than the room and balcony issue. I wanted to enjoy my stay, so i didnt make it an issue. But just be aware, if you have a booking on the 5th floor, you may be better to find somewhere else. Btw, Victoria is fantastic at the front desk. The area around the hostel is great. Close to train, beach, dining, etc.

So good for what you pay

I stayed here with my dad for 3 nights and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff were so helpful and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. The room was nice and cosy and had all the basic amenities we could ask for. The hostel was clean and quiet too, and the location was perfect for us. We would stay again.

    Racist hostel

    rating11 Jun 2022

Booked a female dorm. Was placed in a dorm with their female cleaning staff who actually followed me to the showers. Then they changed my booking in their system into mixed-dorm. They deliberately placed heavy snorring male guests into the foreign traveller rooms and reservated almost empty dorms for single Bulgarians. We were staying with two females in a room and a heavy snorring Bulgarian male guest. While the male dorm was occupied with just one male, also Bulgarian, the staff refused to move the male guest from our room to the almost empty male dorm. But they don't hesitate to offer the travellers private rooms on higher costs, of course. The hostels in Varna are inacceptable and very tourist and traveller unfriendly. Your are not welcome here but your money is.
