    Just don’t go there....

    rating30 Nov 2019

Since changing hands this hotel, now called the Sikang Shen Shen Business Hotel has clearly gone down the panI arrived to be ‘greeted’ by receptionist who hadn’t a clue about my booking, I had to show her my booking.com app. She didn’t know what room I had booked, for how long, the price or whether or not I’d already paid. I had booked a ‘Superior’ double and if that’s what I got I’d hate to see the standard rooms. The room was dirty, needing a refurbishment, access hatches left off, no window, tv, fridge or supplies, (What’s the point of providing a kettle?)Only saving grace was the sheets were clean...I made the decision just to stay for one night rather than the booked two and went looking for cash and supplies. The young lads on reception now could not understand my request fir directions to an ATM and when I asked if I could purchase a bottle of water they just waved me away..... Having failed to find any reasonable looking restaurants near by I returned after dark to find a quite sinister atmosphere with scantily-dressed young working girls shouting and leering at me. Several times during the night I went downstairs and again the young lads on reception totally ignored me and looked on in quite an aggressive manner. Not surpassingly I made a hasty departure at 6.00am, I got very little sleep with all the noise and couldn’t wait to get out of there.

    Horrible place

    rating03 Jun 2019

The staff is super rude. The sheets are filthy, we asked to change and they were dirty and stained. The room have a bad smell. The street is full of prostitutes, very far from the center. Not worth the price. BrotherRoberto, 's assistant, David at Don Bosco Guesthouse, responded to this review I regret that we have let you down and I thank you for helping us with your review. There is no acceptable excuse for our failings regarding the rudeness, the dirty and stained sheets, and the bad smell. All this will be taken on board by the management team. As for the last point about the women in the street, the Don Bosco Foundation is a not-for-profit organization and our mission is to train local youths and to give children of those women, and the women themselves, alternative aspirations and to provide them with a safe place. Our Guest House and our Childcare centre, located up the same road, is part of that mission

    Overpriced, Dirty (Room 203)

    rating02 Jun 2019

For $22.50 a night I really was expecting a lot more. The hotel is dirty, there’s thick dust on the banisters as you walk up the stairs. Cigarette butts are strewn on the floor in reception - but no smoking in the room or hotel...!?!? There’s piles of sand and rubble outside in the driveway. The whole area is a building site. The room was extremely basic. The air conditioner was not that great, the tv had no signal, the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, one thin blanket was provided. The sheets were dirty. I think there was spunk on the bedsheet. It certainly looked like it.Paint was hanging off of the ceiling and the light was so dim I had to use the torch on my iPhone. Advertised WiFi works well in reception but nothing in the room. The toilet seat was not attached to the toilet. No toilet paper provided. Mirror was dirty and two towels from the previous guest remained hanging on the rail. Shower was not powerful.I was woken up at 7:30 by drilling and banging in the hotel, or outside the hotel. It certainly sounded like it was outside the room door.Terrible experience.

    Don bosco guest CHAOS

    rating02 Jun 2019

Complete mismatch of the room description on the website (booked superior double room). The room window faced the Laundry room, although the description stated a view of the city or garden. The whole bed was covered with ants. The receptionist did not offer another room but said that there are available at a price 2 times higher. After our request, he replaced the sheets and gave a mosquito spray. The room has a terrible smell of old age and wet clothes. The trash is filled with garbage from previous guests. The staff doesn't understand English language. Not advise even for 1 night!! BrotherRoberto, 's assistant, David at Don Bosco Guesthouse, responded to this review I apologise. I agree with you that it is not acceptable that your trash can was full of garbage, the room should not have such a foul odour and the bed should not have had ants. It is also regrettable that you were asked to pay extra for another room. It was our mistake. we should have given you a superior room without extra charges. Our staff should have attended to the ants, and not ask you to do it.Thank you for helping us with your feedback. We will also review the description of the guest house on our website. I advise other guest that, if they want a room with a city view, that this be communicated to our staff before booking. As you may understand, not all rooms in any building could have the same view. I apologise again.

    Clean and basic hostel.

    rating26 Jan 2019

We arrived at night, as the taxi drove us up the street we soon relieased the hostel is located slap bang in the middle of multiple brothels. Girls and their ‘pimps’ sat outside either side of the street. I felt very uncomfortable and worried about the night ahead. I felt gernally unsafe, dispite travelling with another female and two males. I would not stay here if I was a lone traveller. We checkin the receiption team where helpful and the hostel was clean and basic. (Which was fine as we only stayed one night). The rooms are large and the WiFi is free (but does not always work). It’s quite noisy with animals, mainly chickens, chirping and building work throughout the night. Which made an uncomfortable night sleep. The mattress... I can only discribed as sleeping on a rock. Overall I can not fault the staff at the hostel they where lovely and helpful and the room was clean. I personally didn’t feel safe and didn’t have a good night sleep, which is all we needed after a busy day. BrotherRoberto, 's representative, David at Don Bosco Guesthouse, responded to this review Thank you for acknowledging the cleanliness, the size of the rooms and the friendly staff. We take heart from your comments. We regret the noise and the feeling of "insecurity". We fully understand. The mission of Don Bosco in Cambodia over the last 40 years is to be amongst the marginalised, especially women and children at risk. You may not have noticed, but up the same road, we have a childcare center where we house toddlers and children from the same street. We do have a 24hr security guard on the premises, which are also always locked and under camera surveillance anyway. Because of the reputation of Don Bosco, we can assure guests that we have not had a single adverse incident involving our guests. Thank you for staying with us and thereby putting something back into the local community.
