Location

This city hotel is located on Banff Avenue in a national park. It is only 10-15 minutes’ walk to Downtown Calgary and other nearby places of interest include Banff Gondola and the hot springs (both 15 minutes by car), Lake Louise (an hour’s drive) and Ice Fields (2-hour drive). The hotel is about 1-5 minutes from Calgary Airport.

Facility

The hotel has 20 suites, 5 single rooms and 75 double rooms, which are located on 4 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. A baggage storage service, a safe, room service, a laundry service, a business centre, a fax machine and a smoke alarm are available. Amenities include a drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park.

Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. A balcony is included as standard in some rooms.     Hotel going down the slope.

    The staff are really welcoming and doing a good job.The biggest disappointment are the room.The rooms are worn and damaged, they need to be updated/renovatedThey haven’t got any update since the 90’s but you pay the 2026 price!At 500$ a night you don’t expect the furniture to be worn. The fridge is sitting directly in the room and not in a desk. You can hear the compressor starting all night.The bathroom are from another eras. Toilet seat broken, ready to fall on the floor.A plastic curtain in the bath to take your shower, that keep sticking on you because there is not enough space… and I am a skinny guy. The shower head was sprayer over the curtain and the floor was getting all wet after a shower.Once you get in the room you are welcomes by the ironing board and the iron hanging on the wall in the entrance.The carpet need to be replaced also.I have made the comment to the staff and through the welcome text message that you get went checking in. But no reaction except to tell me that they are sorry for my experience and they will use my comments to improve in the future… blabla bla.There are many other option in Banff that are worth more than this hotel.

    Disappointing Experience Due to Service and Communication Issues

    We stayed at the Banff Inn as part of a group and unfortunately had a disappointing experience, primarily related to customer service and communication.While we did have one positive interaction with a staff member on Saturday morning who was personable, professional, and helpful, the majority of our interactions with front desk staff were unwelcoming and, at times, lacked professionalism.There was also confusion regarding billing. A second pre-authorization was processed on my card, as I was told the original had expired due to timing. However, when I contacted my credit card company, I was advised that the original authorization had not expired. This resulted in my card being temporarily locked and required me to follow up directly with my credit card company to resolve.The room itself was decent, but we did notice it was dusty and that some surfaces hadn’t been wiped properly. The lighting was poor, and there were burnt-out light bulbs, which impacted the overall comfort of the space.One specific situation reflected the inconsistency we experienced. A front desk attendant advised that the whirlpool was closed due to a wet floor. When we asked to view the area, the floor was dry. We were then told we could use the whirlpool, only to be told again shortly after that we could not. The direction changed multiple times within minutes, and the interaction came across as dismissive and inconsistent, particularly in how it was communicated to my daughter.We also reached out directly to the hotel regarding these concerns but did not receive a response.Overall, the experience did not reflect the level of service expected in a hospitality setting in Banff. We would not recommend staying here and would not choose to stay again.     All the staffs were extremely friendly - they helped us finding and booking all the activities from their end.     Family stayed together in one room. Quite dark room with a jug but no cups/glasses/tea. I called reception to have some delivered and was told they don’t do room service. The stuff would be at the desk if required.Parking in the basement is expensive.10 minute walk to township Sales Manager, Sales at Banff Inn, responded to this review Russell, thank you for sharing your experience.     Good size room with plenty of storage. They even provided us with a kettle as only a coffee machine in the room but I do love my tea. Good pool and jacuzzi which my husband had all to himself. Staff were very helpfulThe restaurant within the hotel is amazing for pizzas but buffet breakfast is not worth it.ROAM public transport is so useful, frequent buses and good value.Would definitely stay here again, we stayed for 2 nights. Banff Avenue was extremely busy with people posing for their social media post. This hotel is far enough away from the hustle and the bustle but only a 10 minute walk to shops and eateries.
